PHUKET: -- A man died north of Phuket Town this morning (May 29) after the Kawasaki big bike he was riding struck a parked car in Rassada.

Police identified the man as 29-year-old Phuket native Sermsak Malasri.

Phuket City Police were called to the scene, on Thepkrasattri Rd northbound before the Nueng Yan Yon tyre shop in Rassada, at 6:30am.

Parked by the side of the road was a red Mazda 3 sedan registered in Songkhla with heavy damage to its rear-right bumper. The force of the impact had blown out the car’s rear right tyre.

A wrecked Kawazaki motorbike was on the road 20 metres away, and the body of Mr Sermsak dressed in sportswear lay nearby.

The force of the collision blew out the right rear tire. This idxot was truly speeding to his death

Only a matter of time before one of these rockets does serious damage to innocent bystanders.

Then and only then will there be a reaction from the authorities.

Firstly the red Mazda was parked on a major highway.....  That is causing a hazard, surely the car is not legally parked there.

Secondly, the motorcycle hit a stationary vehicle sadly causing his death.

Two issues - questionable, or at the very least careless parking and inattentive riding - Unfortunately this is quite normal on Thailands roads. In another news story today a car drives into a Police Pickup which is parked on the side of the road. Very similar accidents, very different outcome as the car driver survived uninjured.

Will get the same reaction from authorities as they give to bus, vans, and trucks that also do serious damage to innocent bystanders , and i figure i don't need to tell you what that reaction is/will be.

Yes, the car was parked illegally there. A year or so back police announced they would get rid of the cars stopping there to visit Supercheap or some of the smaller outlets, because they are obstructing traffic flow.

All drivers that know the area don't drive on that lane, simply too many parked cars and cars stopping and pulling away.

talk and no action ; hardly surprising here
