PHUKET:-- Three top-ranking officers of the Phuket City Police were transferred out yesterday following a raid on a large illegal ‘casino’ in Phuket Town. The officers are now under investigation for alleged corruption and malfeasance.

A joint team of Army and police raided a house in Phuket Town on Saturday and arrested 63 gamblers with 2 million baht.

Following the raid, Phuket Provincial Police Commander Teeraphol Thipjaroen issued a transfer letter and set up an investigative committee to question the three officials, namely Superintendent Komol Osiri, Deputy Superintendent Chao Phomna and Lt Col Nat Phromthep.

Where exactly do these and other corrupt cops get transferred to? With all the transfers that I've been reading about over the last couple of decades, there must be thousands of them. And those are just the ones that we hear about.

These three have been transferred to the Phuket Provincial Police Station while under investigation for corruption and malfeasance. It seems quite reasonable to complete investigations before taking action against the officers.

Subsequent actions taken against crooked police don't seem to make the news in the same way the initial allegations do. You never hear if they are dismissed, lose rank or are just permanently transferred to a lessor position.

I wonder what percent of the rake the uniform guys get normally on allowing the games to go? By the size of the raid, this wasn't a one time get together of punters. I wonder who didn't get paid their fair share and grassed on the games.

High-tide Thailand starts applying the law to each and every citizen. Transferring Police does not send the right message across, does it !

Actually it is the army initiating this not the BIB as they are the ones taking the brown envelops. If the army wasn't in charge this raid would never had happened and the BIB would only raid private games with less then 500 baht in the house. This is the army letting the bib know who is really in charge.5555

Don't think the army is any less involved in the brown envelope trade than the usual suspects.

I've been told all the illegal restaurants and other businesses on the way up BB mountain still pay, but the collectors uniform is now different.

I wonder if these 'policemen' had only just been transferred 'IN' from being transferred out of another place. All aboard the transfer merry-go-round.

Exactly. That other popular transfer destination the "inactive post" wherever that is, must be bloody choka block.....
