NBTC pushes for SIM card registration using fingerprint scanning

BANGKOK, 7 June 2017 (NNT) – The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) disclosed that over 700 prepaid SIM cards using fingerprint scanning have been registered since June 1st.

NBTC Secretary General Thakorn Tanthasith said that the NBTC had ordered all mobile networks to initiate SIM card registration using fingerprint scanning at the one service center in Bangkok, at 30 service centers in the three southern border provinces, and at the Na Thawi and Chana districts in Songkhla province. Since 1 June, over 700 prepaid SIM cards have been registered using fingerprint scanning.

When the fingerprint scanners are installed at over 20,000 service centers nationwide, all users will be required to register their prepaid SIM cards via the fingerprint scanning systems.

The NBTC Secretary-General has emphasized that the registration of a prepaid SIM card via fingerprint scanning will ensure that information on SIM cards and on ID card are consistent with the Department of Provincial Administration's database. Personal information of each individual will remain confidential, says the secretary general.

In 6 days they have sold 700. With about 40 million phones out there, that could take quite a while to get them all changed over then.

And my son will go and get a new SIM for me, which renders the entire process stupid in itself. I'm just lazy, but anyone up to no good will simply do the same and the cops will get the bank robbers grandmas prints. Stupid waste of time and money.

Street people will be in big demand...

They will be keeping quite busy buying Sims cards...lol

Another idea from a genius . Thailand would have the worlds highest number of scumbags from other countries there and do they think that these low life's are going to get a SIM card with their finger prints done . No way .They will just use their existing SIM cards from another country or pay some patsy to get one for them .

And still not a thought spent on those unlucky creatures who are not in the "Department of Provincial Administration's database".

That could become big business for stooges.
