Bob Seger Finally Arrives on Streaming Music Services

Featured Replies

While streaming music services can be great for those who aren't living in the past of cassette and 8-track tapes, there always have been various artists whose music simply has never been available on any of the major U.S. streaming music services. Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band has been one of those -- until now.

I got an email note from Amazon Music in the U.S. today advising that they had finally added Seger's music to their streaming music catalog. And when I checked, I found that a similar though not exactly the same selection of Seger's albums had been added to Spotify. I'm guessing that means his albums may also begin showing up for streaming elsewhere as well.

Here's what the Amazon Seger selection looks like:

There's some seriously good music contained in this various albums. Well deserving of a listen for anyone who hasn't already given them a listen.

DETROIT — The Beatles and Garth Brooks finally gave in. Prince, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin all took the plunge.

And now Bob Seger has at last conceded to the reality of the modern music business: Online streaming rules the roost.

Seger's hit catalog was released overnight Friday on six streaming services, meaning the world at large can now hear his songs on demand at the touch of a finger.

It follows a lengthy stalemate: The Detroit rocker and his team resisted the streaming trend for years, even as other top-selling artists overcame jitters and steadily hopped aboard.

Seger was by far the most prominent figure still holding out. And now just a handful of brand-name artists remain on the streaming sidelines, including Tool and Radiohead's Thom Yorke.
