BANGKOK: -- Three Pak Chong-based local politicians, who were arrested for allegedly buying sexual services from underage prostitutes in Nakhon Ratchasima province, were transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTD) head office in Bangkok for further questioning on Wednesday morning, said provincial police chief Pol Maj-General Supakorn Khamsingnok.

After Tuesday’s arrest of three unnamed politicians, police also arrested Pak Chong resort caretaker Winai Jaengploy, 56, reportedly a close aide to a retired military officer, on charges of raping underage girls.

Police were also investigating whether Winai also procured underage girls to provide sexual services to tourists, Supakorn said.

The northeastern province’s police chief has also instructed precincts in 32 districts to send officers to check hotels and “at-risk” establishments to prevent illegal activities, especially prostitution and human trafficking. He also pledged to severely punish any police officers involved with both disciplinary and criminal code actions.

The case stemmed from an AHTD operation in May that rescued a runaway 14-year-old girl and five other underage girls who were lured into prostitution in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Muang district.

The 14-year-old’s mother, 34, filed a complaint with the Pathum Thani-based Pavena Foundation for Women and Children on May 17, saying that her teenage daughter had ran away from home after being invited by a Facebook friend referred to as “Amara Bee” to work in the sex trade in Nakhon Ratchasima.

After the AHTD probe found the runway girl had been staying at a hotel with five friends aged between 14 and 16, they conducted a sting operation to contact the Facebook user by phone and Line ostensibly to purchase sexual services.

Police arrested “Amara Bee” – who out to be a 15-year-old girl seeking commissions by procuring girls – when she turned up at a hotel room with two other 16-year-old girls to collect the promised payment of Bt1,200 for each girl.

Another police team then picked up the 14-year-old and other girls at the other hotel.

Meanwhile, not yet one single utterance of outrage from the man who only recently felt incredibly offended by the on-stage gyrations of a singer and was convinced that her comparatively harmless antics would paint Thai culture in a terribly negative light.

Misterwhisper  you are spot on, he is very quiet, yet spouting off about a young girl trying to make a living.

Well done sir for pointing that out.

Why no names of the three politicians?

If they are lo-so, even mid-so folks their names would be in all the media regardless of whether they have been investigated or not - par for the course for decades.

For the Nation - please share who has ordered their names to be withheld, and why didn't you (the Nation) pursue the names same as you do with lo-so & mid-so folks? So much for media reform.

For the cops - who no big gathering of cops with the culprits in masks? Selective and unprofessional.

Why did the 14 year old girl ran away? just an invite to work as a prostitute can convinced a 14 year old to do so?

Poverty? rebellion? was she forced into it? How are the youths in Thailand being influenced? are songs by Lamyai promoting no need for education, party party, find guys, sexy dance dance and all other teenage girls stripping on camfrog and facebook live, bigo live good for Thai teenage girls?

It is not just normal pedos buying sexual services from young girls.

Politicians which the commoners are supposed to trust their lives to are exploiting them.

I sincerely hope Prayut's Thailand 4.0 and section 44 can save Thailand....(not)

Didn't we here exactly the same words from the impotent General during the Mae Hong Son investigation ?? And that's gone awfully quiet recently, as will this unfortunately.

These people need locking away for a very long time, 14 years of age for Gods sake, these people are sicko's in the extreme.

are we at the point yet where we just probe all politicians ? i for one would put up my own money ascerting that 80 % + are corrupt

I am sure that we are being flooded by the suspicion and questioning of these minor officials, while the truly guilty higher ups, are making their escapes, so to speak.

Exactly. What happened to the names of the politicians. 555. Laughable? Not really.

Tip of the iceberg?

Being going on in Thailand for decades,  it is part of their culture.  Another example of Thainess rightly or wrongly.

Turning a blind eye is usually the case but obviously the pimp this time,  or his employer, did not cover the BIBs / Army eyes with enough 1000 baht notes to induce the blind eye syndrome.

Throw these so called politicians into the jail and we shall see which remaining politician buy underage sex again. Of course we know jailing them is not going to happen in this corruptive country.

So they arrested three politicians in this case already.

Where's the photo of them sitting behind a police table in custody?  Where's the photo of the victims pointing at them (with their faces suitably blurred out)?  Where's even the naming of the three people they arrested???

One code of treatment for ordinary crime suspects. An entirely different code if they happen to work for the government.

Seem like this story from the Nation is connected to an earlier story today in Thai Visa News about "Amara Bee", based on Daily News, talking about a mum selling her minor daughter to a soapy massage in Bangkok...

Quote

Yesterday Chok Chai police mounted a raid on the We Too Entertainment soapy massage establishment in Lat Prao Soi 55.

A sting operation had uncovered sex was for sale there and on the second floor they discovered a girl called "Mew" who is the daughter of a woman called "Poo" or Thiphaporn Maneenoi, 36, who is wanted on human trafficking charges.

Mew told cops that there were usually other under 18 girls at work in the massage parlor but they were not working yesterday.

Police said that "Poo" was supplying underage girls through a Facebook page called Amarabee and that a warrant had already been served for illegal activity in this regard in the Pak Chong area of Korat.

Under age girls were also supplied by the woman to the politicians, police said. The girls were told they were being taken to a waterfall but were instead taken to a hotel where they were raped by "local politicians".

Mother who sold own daughter into "soapy massage" sex trade in Bangkok fronts Korat politician sex scandal, say police

Pimping underage girls isn't cultural, it's contemptible

,.

Yes, no argument from me there.

However in the context of this thread and the post I responded to, underage girls are the ones being exploited.
