PHUKET: -- Hundreds of migrant workers sacked in Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi in the fallout from the harsher penalties under labour law have arrived in Phuket begging for help to be sent home.

Some of them have been hiding in the jungle for days out of fear of being caught.

A total of 389 migrant workers on Friday and Saturday (June 30-July 1) gathered at The Mike Matthews Learning Center in Rassada, requesting assistance in order to return to Myanmar.

another shiny gold star for thailands human rights effort.

no thoughts on consequences, or even a grace period to get people properly registered.

just send em home like cattle after sucking them dry for as long as possible.

Are there any photos of Thai,s queuing up to replace them on the pittance of wages they received

Yeah well your right about them being treated like cattle. Have you not seen the open trucks transporting these poor people to their work destinations? Cows in Europe have better living conditions that these immigrants.

this is the reality. These Burmese work their asses off for their Thai Employers and they can get dump in the blink of an eye just to save their own asses.

Maybe it's time to remember some basics:

All humans are created equal ... and then money and profit changes the whole story.

We just need to remember this simple fact and start treating fellow humans as humans and ALL problems are solved !

Only one thing wrong with that in Thailand.  Thai will NEVER treat anyone other than a Thai as their equal.  They seriously believe they are the superior race to all others on the planet.

Sadly that is true. Even my own Thai wife thinks that way ....

Gun....foot...any questions?

Agreed, but it's not something that's unique to Thailand, there is now many thousands of tons of fruit rotting on the ground in Australia because the Australian government have gone down this road, and many Australians will not do the work

The words for Thailand  in, foot, yourself, shooting come to mind

Mate this is INCORRECT. There has been extensions after extensions granted for months and now there is another one for 120 days. Get your FACTS right! There would not be one of them there that didn't know this was coming.

Well one will just have to wait and see the negative repercussions on the Thai economy.

And one could doubt that the jobs filled by these workers would be of any interest to Thai's...

Why do I feel that soon there is going to be a serious labour shortage in Thailand? I mean these guy were involved in the hospitality industry, construction, fishing, and farming. Interesting to so what happens next.
