BANGKOK — Labor activists said the law that sparked the ongoing exodus of thousands of migrant workers is unlikely to improve the illegal workforce situation.

 

Issued urgently by the interim cabinet, the law which brought sharpened penalties for those who employ illegal workers may not be a game changer if the practices of government and law enforcement remain unchanged.

The problems is with Thais not illegal workers. After all its the immigration officers that let in the illegals. Making it easier for them to be legal will only benefit the country even more.

If they make immigrants legal, there will be no chance of any tea money!  Keeping immigrants in fear of deportation works the same the world over.

sure the law is idiotic; the real dangers are the (thoughtless) thinkers behind this
