PHUKET: Ma Hongcui, Vice Consul General of the Consulate General of China in Songkhla and the leading Chinese embassy official in Phuket, this week called for ramped up efforts to protect Chinese tourists from harm during their holidays in Phuket.

Ms Ma’s call for better protection for Chinese tourists came during an official visit by Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong on Tuesday (July 11) to victims of Monday night’s tour bus crash on Patong Hill who were still recovering at Vachira Phuket Hospital.

“Thank you to all officials and everyone in Phuket for taking good care of Chinese tourists injured in the bus crash,” Ms Ma said.

He could have used a wider lens and said more safety for all tourists, which would include Chinese. Maybe get together with Brit, Aussie, US etc embassies to present a united front.... they'd be ignored, but what the hey

Make the Chinese sit at the back of the bus, job done.

Just imagine the stampeding horde trying to get out of the bus first.

Since it is the Chinese that travel in organised groups in tour buses, go snorkeling without knowing how to swim and do other things typically only the Chinese do, it makes sense to see them as a unique entity here.

You can see that every day at the local shrimp buffet.

Do they not have roads in china with cars? I am always having to beep at the chinese walking in the road not looking for cars when crossing the road.

They even stand in the middle of busy Patak Road in Karon Village to take photos. Not the least bit fazed when you toot at them.

They should all have to pass a pool swimming test before being taken on a snorkeling trip

or entering the water at the beach.

So apart from; Road safety risks, swimming/snorkeling issues, jet-skiing, parasailing, food buffets and high priced sex shows, what other ploblems would the average Mister Chi,nee encounter...? Happy Hols...!
