Phichit authorities teach residents to defend themselves against robbers

PHICHIT, 17 July 2017 (NNT) - Phichit residents are learning to use weapons and to defend themselves after more robberies have been reported in the municipality.

Phichit Muang District Chief Phumsit Wangkheeree and a group of local administrative officials, soldiers from the 36th Military Circle and Phichit police are hosting a training program for village headsmen and residents from 135 villages in 15 sub-districts.

The program was launched after the number of crimes and robberies surged in the municipal areas. Participants learned the skills needed to prevent and keep the crimes at bay.

The trainees also volunteer to patrol their communities and villages to ensure the safety of people and their properties.

If the arm of law flaws to it's task, the people take up arms to defend themselves and their property.....this was very common...back in the far west in the 19th century!!!

Not that uncommon in the same area now by some accounts!

But, poorly trained (you can imagine) armed groups out on patrol. What could possibly go wrong?

Nothing of course.. sounds all perfectly normal. I mean this is a police job.. if they are too busy hire more police. Then again the budget might not be sufficient.
