RATCHABURI: -- Manager reported on the case of two happy and healthy teenagers in Ratchaburi who were born conjoined.

The Siamese twins are now 15 and are called Parichart and Parichat or Phee Fai and Nong Fight.

They attend M3 at Wat Don Toom secondary school and are just normal teenagers.

But everything was far from normal when mum Thanaporn Sae-lao was being treated during her pregnancy in 2002. She knew she was due to have twins but there were complications so local doctors referred her to Sirirat Hospital in Bangkok.

The twins were born by Caesarian section on July 10th and were healthyweighing in at 4,590 grams combined.

But they were joined from the chest to the abdomen.

An MRI scan revealed that both children had separate circulatory and digestive systems but doctors waited until they were four months old before separating them.

A team of 14 surgeons and support staff took 10 hours to perform the successful operation.

Thaivisa notes that the term Siamese twins was used to refer to Eng and Chang Bunker who were born in Siam in 1811 joined at the chest.

The pair were never separated and became famous worldwide. They married sisters and settled in North Carolina in the USA where they had a long life.
