Man shoots himself at petrol station

By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- An employee tasked with the refilling and maintenance of Kasikorn Bank ATMs shot himself inside a petrol station in Bangkok’s Talingchan district early Tuesday morning, his colleagues told police.

Captain Dolkonee Thinglong, deputy inspector of Talingchan Police Station, was alerted at about 2am that there was a shooting incident inside the PTT petrol station on the inbound Rajapreuk Road, so he rushed to the scene with a forensic officer and an on-duty doctor from Siriraj Hospital.

The found the body of Pattanapong Thaptimsi, 37, lying facedown with a .38 revolver in his right hand and a bullet wound in the head.

The bullet pierced the head and hit the window frame of a nearby convenience store, the police office said.

Pattanapong’s colleague, Thiraphan Kongchom, 20, said he, Pattanapong and another colleague refilled and provided maintenance to Kasikorn Bank ATMs.

When they arrived at the petrol station, he said Pattanapong checked an ATM machine while he used the toilet.

He said he heard a gunshot and found Pattanapong had shot himself.

Police will check CCTV footage at the petrol station.
