BANGKOK: -- Six trains of the Bangkok-Nong Khai route will be delayed due to landslides that have buried the track.

The trains have been ordered detoured to avoid a mountain tunnel straddling two provinces, the State Railway of Thailand announced.

The SRT said the track at the tunnel linking Khokklee station in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Si Khiew district and Chong Samran station in Chaiyaphum’s Thepsathit district were buried under a pile of mud Wednesday night.

The six trains will instead use the route from Bua Yai Junction to Nakhon Ratchaisma-Kaeng Koi Junction to avoid the tunnel.

The detour will result in increased travel time. The SRT will refund the passengers in full if they return their tickets, the authority said in a statement.

The six affected trains are:

1. 25th Express train (Bangkok-Nong Khai)

2. 26th Express train (Nong Khai-Bangkok)

3. 133rd Rapid train (Bangkok-Nong Khai)

4. 134th Raid train (Nong Kkhai-Bangkok)

5. 75th Express train (Bangkok-Nong Khai)

6. 76th Express train (Nong Khai-Bangkok).

The SRT hopes to reopen the tunnel within a few days and resume normal service, it added.
