BANGKOK: -- Police are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at a company that imports ice cream-making machines and food processors in Bangkok's Bung Kum district on Thursday night. The damages are still being assessed.

A fire report at 11.30pm sent Chokchai police and firefighters to the scene, the Goodwill Distributor Co Ltd's three-storey site in Soi Yothin Pattana on Pradit Manoontham.

Traffic jams resulted after officials closed the two-lane road in front of the building as they fought the fire. The blaze was brought under control within an hour.

It took firefighters one hour to control the blaze. The likely source is a second-floor machine storage area.

Company owner Sommit Srisermwong, 53, said there were no injuries or deaths. There were no people in the building at the time the fire broke out, he added.
