BANGKOK, 01 August 2017, (NNT) - The Commerce Ministry is watching out for unfair pricing, as floods persist in the north and northeast.

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Business Development Lalida Jivanantapravat said local commerce officials in disaster provinces are putting together a list of affected vendors in order to draw up assistance measures accordingly.

She stated that the department is working with members of “MOC Biz Club” to devise an assistance measure which will be implemented as soon as the situation returns to normal.

The Deputy Director-General said that Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn has asked provincial officers to closely monitor the vendors in an effort to prevent unfair pricing of commodity goods during this difficult time.

Major retailers such as Makro, Tesco Lotus, Big C and 7-Eleven are urged to quickly distribute goods to the flood affected provinces.

The Ministry is also planning to hold Blue Flag fairs offering discounted products as soon as the water recedes.
