Urgent: police checking bomb threat at Bangkok school

Teachers and students of Kingphet School on Phetchaburi Road were evacuated at noon after a bomb threat was made against the school.

Police are still checking whether the threat is real.

To put it into perspective: When I grew up my [different] school was evacuated a total of three times over 9 years, always false alarm. You always evacuate - even though there has never been a fatal bomb [in my homecountry] in any schools the last 50 years from what I can recall.

Bomb hoax made against Kngphet School

Teachers and students of Kingphet School on Phetchaburi Road were evacuated at noon after a bomb hoax was made against the school.

Atchara Klinkhachorn, director of the school, said a man called her at 11:10 am saying he had planted a bomb inside the school and the man called again 10 minutes later, asking her to evacuate students. So, she decided to evacuate teachers and students and alert police.

Bomb disposal police backed up with sniffing dogs rushed to the school at 12:53 pm but did not detect any bomb.

At least three bomb hoaxes made against Bangkok schools

At least three bomb hoaxes were made against three Bangkok schools Wednesday, police said.

The three schools were Kingphet on Phetchaburi Road in Phyathai district, Sunphawut Witthaya School in Bang Na district and Khemaphirak Taram in Nonthaburi.

Classes were cancelled and students were allowed to return home early.

Bomb disposal police checked but did not detect any bomb.

Okay, so if these times are correct it took bomb disposal police 90 minutes to 'rush' to the school. That's worrying - especially if you are close by or involved in any way.

Bomb false alarm causes traffic chaos in Yaowaraj

A bomb false alarm near the Bangkok's China Town or Yaowaraj caused traffic snarls in the area at noon Wednesday.

Police were alerted that a suspicious item was sighted on the roof of a public telephone booth in front of a beauty saloon on Soi Charoenkrung 23 near Yaowaraj in Pomprap district at noon.

Police rushed to the scene and found a brown paper bag under a plastic basket on the rooft.

Police used water gun of a fire engine to fire at the bag but found out that it was an empty bag.

While police closed the section of the road to check the bag, it caused traffic congestion in the area.
