Hi all

Just a little advice needed, my GF is flying back to LOS tomorrow :D however only for roughly 20 days :D

She has spent about 3 months in the UK on her 6mth visa and would like to use up the other half to settle more into life over here. However she is worried she'll have to face a barrage of questions at heathrow immigration when she returns and could even be refused entry. Any advice how i could help her? Anyone had any experiance of doing this?

Also while i'm posting anyway. I'm buying her a ticket online with Thai air, BKK-LHR return however when purchasing it has a big notice saying the card payers must travel with the ticket holder (I would love to but my bank manager says otherwise :o ) Is it worth the risk as i've never had to show my credit card before or has anyone had problems when doing this?

I sure everything should be fine and dandy but we breezed through her VV application by being well prepared so i don't want to stop now!

thanx in advance

If she has a 6month multiple entry tourist visa she is legally allowed to enter UK as many times as she wishes but must leave the final time on or before 6month from the date of isuue of the visa so she shouldn't receive any flak on her arrival back in UK. However did you tell that this was your intention when you applied for the visa? If you only requested a short single visit but have done as you intend you may get questions asked when she next applies for a visa.

Most airlines request that the holder of the booking credit card must be in the travelling party. I have got round it before with Singapore airlines where they held the booking for my wife and I paid with my credit card at the service desk when I took her to the airport. I think they will accept a debit card (bank card) if you are not travelling. Why not book through an agent online instead of an airline, they accept payment if you are not in the travelling party.

It is unlikely, but your girlfriend could be refused entry at Heathrow under the provisions of para 321 of the Immigration Rules which stipulate that a visa's validity can be overturned by an immigration officer where, inter alia, circumstances have changed since the visa was issued. Should your girlfriend have told the visa officer that she wished to visit the UK once for a limited period, that she is now returning could be construed as a change in circumstances.

On the assumption that your girlfriend will be re-admitted to the UK, she can quite lawfully stay until the date the visa expire, but may face difficulties obtaining a subsequent visit visa.
