If Brits were 3% less stupid there would be no Brexit.

Strange that, because it would seem the people who are apparently more intelligent don't understand the word democracy

If the study claims as stated that Brexit [was] caused by low levels of education then it is simply bad science.

Of course the most it can claim is that there is an ASSOCIATION  between tertiary education and voting Remain. CAUSALITY requires a very high level of evidence indeed as any serious scientist will confirm.

It could work like this.

Those in Northern towns in working class jobs feel the brunt of freedom of movement as suppressed job opportunities and wages, therefore they vote Leave.  A greater percentage of those affected have no tertiary education.

In that case the effect in NOT a CAUSATIVE one but a simple ASSOCIATION......

GCSE level stuff ...that this "newspaper" cannot get right.

Brits have nothing to do with it. A small group of people decide such things not the nation, lol.

As a president once put it, if voting could change anything, it would be illegal.

Politics is a trillion dollar business, did you really think that they will let everyone and their mommy have a say in such matters?

Did you not  realise that there was a national referendum and all Brits had one vote each to decide ?

Even more intelligent people would realise that the point you raise about democratic principles is completely different and unrelated to the issue discussed in the OP.

What is democracy if the people base their vote on the uneducated assumptions from populist politicians.

Most of the world's population understand what democracy might be, as it's not really practiced anywhere - even among those highly civilised cultures that have been conditioned to believe that they are [democratic].

If they had more education, they would probably have jobs that weren't threatened by low wage immigrants.  Making it a causal relationship.

So, on the same grounds, you are in favour of Scottish secession?

And why should the Shetlands stay with Scotland?

Well even more reason for doing away with Public and Grammar schools by the example of your post.  They do not even teach you how to spell correctly, the correct use of capitalisation,  nor being grammatically correct. So perhaps the UK,  now having such poor standards of education, may be another reason for the Brexit "yes" vote ?

No country is 100% democratic, I agree.

But there is a wide range from 0% to ?75%?

I prefer to be close to 75%.

I'm pretty sure you have just confirmed the results of the study.

They were smart at the time.

Jamaica and the Caribbean colonies/properties were more valuable to Britain than the thirteen colonies. So they diverted resources to protect them.

Agree 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing but...

If you was being educated as a student you could get 2 votes.  :ninja:

Smart?  They could have kept it all had they just compromised a bit on the demands from the colonists, most of whom had no desire to split the sheets.  Just wanted to be treated as citizens and not red headed step kids.  We'd have even helped with the sugar and rum thingies.

Why do you say that democracy isnt practiced anywhere ?

Why isnt the UK a democracy ?

What is wrong for the Brits wanting to take their country back from the socialists? Why would they have wanted to keep their boat tied to a sinking ship? It's only a matter of time before the huge socialist experiment collapses of its own weight.

Is "socialist" your favourite swear word?

It is a huge danger to the world. Maggie Thatcher said it very well;

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”

Haha, the Remaoners still looking down their noses at us thicko's who voted out. Still makes me laugh when i hear their butthurt comments :partytime2:

The thread title suggests that all people who didnt attend university are stupid

The O.P also suggests that Uni people all voted for Remain, and non university people voted exit , all based on the location of where people who voted either way lived .

Lefties just name calling when they lose a vote , again ?

It's now't to do with 'intelligence'.  The Cameron 'off the cuff' decision to hold a simple 'yes' 'no' vote on such a complex issue, with loads of bull..it on both sides, was/is a disaster.  I'm afraid the chickens are coming home to roost now and I cannot see how we can extract ourselves from the consequences.

If it makes people feel better because 'we have taken back control' then I have no answer to that, except, I don't know what it's supposed to mean.

Of course, all the authors of this situation have now jumped ship and making loads of money in other ways. I wish I could afford £35,000 for a garden shed!

Yes, it were the socialists that caused the bank crisis, not the monopoly capitalists.

Also it is the socialists that cause all the small shops, breweries, etc to be closed or taken over by the multinationals.

Luckily I am in a position to be able to offer you one, which I happen to have surplus-to-requirements, for the very-affordable sum of £34,999 plus-tax & delivery, it's currently stored in the back-yard of my Nigerian-office.
