Thai authorities have ruled the death of a Myanmar housemaid in Thailand a suicide, to the anger and disappointment of both her family and migrant rights groups.

The 17-year-old victim was originally from the town of Palaw in the Tanintharyi Region. Prior to her death, she had been working at the same Thai household, located in Ratchaburi Province’s Ban Pong District, for three years for a monthly salary of THB9,000 (approximately USD270).

Ye Min, a member of the Myanmar migrant rights group Aid Alliance Committee for Myanmar Workers (AAC), told 7Day that the victim and her older sister both used to work at the house. However, the sister eventually quit.

Justice for Burmese in Thailand is tough. Thai Mafia kill two English tourists and two Burmese go to jail. Burmese girl found dead from gunshot wounds? Well, a Thai person couldn't have done this, now could they?

gunshot wounds ? suicide ?

must have been a mac10

I wonder which forensic lab was involved - the one run by the police no doubt or after further reading it seems that none at all, the police decided it was suicide based on ............ well nothing

The only surprising thing here is there was any official police announcement. I am surprised the cops didn't just charge the houseowner a fee for body disposal and just say she ran away with a boyfriend and there was nothing to investigate. By coming to a ridiculous conclusion and then announcing it, the Ratchaburi police have just invited criticism. But I don't think they care for a moment.

Couple of questions.

Where was the girl shot? If in the head or in the chest then obviously this can`t be a suicide.

I`ve never used a gun in my life and wouldn`t know how to use one unless I was shown. Did this girl have any experience with guns?

It boils down that the police have no interest in the case and can`t be bothered conducting an investigation. They have more important chores to do, like arresting pretties for serving beer.

I wonder where she was shot. If both shots were to the head then it's definitely suicide. How dare anyone on this forum accuse a Thai (probably connected, hence the fantastic powers of investigation from the BIB) of murdering a 17 year old girl from Myanmar. Case closed. Another Thai gets away with murder.

How many times did this poor woman shoot herself?

Not so long ago the police ruled a suicide for a chap who was shot twice in the chest and once in the back of the head.

Amazed they didn't call it "lead poisoning"? AKA, the "rare blood disorder" syndrome.

once again we see the thai hi so getting away with murder, when will Thailand actually start charging these people with their crimes instead of saving face for them. A pay packet in the right hands and they get the result they require,  no investigation  done at all, no autopsy, no fingerprints done etc,  a simple payment and its all swept under the carpet even when they have been shot twice, pathetic

Are you saying that the police didn't undertake their normal full  investigation using their world renown intensive and inclusive thorough and fully documented unbiased and independent in-depth crime investigation. Sorry found that hard to believe  -  but then I woke up and realised where I am.

So carry on, definitely suicide.

I'd like to know the reason for her sister quitting.

I suspect the employer was abusing his position.

Poor little girl.  Chance of justice being served?  Zero

One gunshot wound, maybe suicide.  Two gunshot wounds, definitely murder.

Investigators commend as evidence Daffy Duck documentaries for the effects of multiple shots on the body.

From the main article the were two gunshot wounds...oh I get it now. Right I'm going to to commit suicide...bang...I'm not dead yet, I'll try again...bang. Oh come Mr. policeman you can't be serious. Poor woman my condolences.

That's a difficult suicide! Don't try this at home!
