30 Baht Government Sponsored Healthcare

Featured Replies

I was told today that the Thai government has reinstituted the 30 baht government sponsored healthcare program that farang may take advantage of - 1700 baht/year to join. 30 baht/visit, 500 baht for 'check-up'.  I'm skeptic of this news (just like global warming) but I would welcome it if this news is true.  Tomorrow I'm scheduled for a blood screening and I will certainly inquire; however, I have encountered 'poorly informed'  administrative staff at the local government hospital in the past.  Does anyone have any first hand experience with this?

Not true .

what you may have heard was the scheme for migrant health workers from neighboring countries.  Which is what the previous scheme for farangs was as well, just they initially failed to specify in the directive and due to that oversight all foreigners got in for a while, then the mistake was spotted and loophole closed.

And you can be sure that if & when a scheme for resident expats comes in, it will cost a great deal more than the scheme for migrants. Much older less fit population ion the whole.

Global warming is true, tho..

Thanks Sheryl - your reasoning concerning government sponsored healthcare seems spot on.  Wishful minds and all that.
