UK spouse visa application questions

Featured Replies

Hello there, I'm new to the forum and I'm wondering if someone could answer some questions for me regarding a UK spouse visa application (especially anyone who has experience applying for one)

1.

My wife and I have to submit various documents as hard copies, how does this work?  Will she send her applicant documents to the centre in Bangkok and I send my sponsor documents to a centre in England?  Or do all of our documents have to be sent together?  If they need to be sent together does this mean I will need to send all my documents to my wife in Thailand before we apply?

2.

When using visa4UK to access the online application forms, am I able to setup an account in my name and apply on behalf of my wife?

Many thanks in advance, I'll possibly have more questions in the coming weeks so will be very grateful for advice!

Thank you!

At the end of the online process, your wife will need to make an appointment with the UK visa application centre in Bangkok or Chiang Mai.

At this appointment she will have her biometrics taken and hand in the signed hard copy of the application form and her supporting documents.

VFS, the company who run the UKVAC on behalf of UK Visas and Immigration, will then forward everything to the embassy.

So yes, you do need to send all your documents to her; including the print out of the application form for her to sign; unless she is able to print it out herself.

Yes; but it's her application and it is she who must sign the hard copy.

Many apologies; my reply on this point is now out of date, and was when I posted it!

Since last May supporting documents can either be handed into vfs who will scan them, for a fee, and return the originals, or they can be sent direct to Sheffield by the applicant or sponsor.

See http://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/thailand/pdf/settlement-visa.pdf

Again, many apologies for my out of date information.
