  2. Why do you post about the USA? This topic is about Thai nationals working illegally in South Korea. Do you honestly believe that the readers of this topic want to hear about the situation in the USA, Greece, Uruguay and the other 200+ countries on the planet earth?
  3. Smell loss was mostly found among those with original COVID or early variant infections Sense of smell—but not taste—was still impaired in some COVID patients at 1 year, according to a new study in JAMA Network Open. The US-based cross-sectional study compared 340 people with and 434 without prior COVID-19, recruited from February 2020 to August 2023 from the social media website Reddit. ... Almost a third with prior COVID had loss of smell Participants with a history of COVID-19 were more likely to experience some degree of smell loss compared with those without a history (30.3% vs 21.0%; odds ratio [OR], 1.64; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.18 to 2.27). Moderate to severe loss of smell was likewise higher in those with previous COVID-19 (8.5% vs 2.8%; OR, 3.28; 95% CI, 1.65 to 6.53). (more) https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/covid-19/impaired-sense-smell-still-common-1-year-after-covid-19 Findings In this cross-sectional study of 340 individuals with and 434 individuals without prior COVID-19, taste function did not differ between individuals who had contracted COVID-19 one year earlier and those who had not, whereas some olfactory dysfunction was present in 30.3% of individuals with prior COVID-19 but only 21.0% of individuals with no history of infection. Deficits were greatest for individuals with the original untyped and Alpha variant infections. Meaning These findings suggest that long-term taste loss perceived by many patients with COVID-19 likely reflects the loss of flavor sensations from odorant molecules reaching a damaged olfactory epithelium via the nasopharynx rather than the taste buds. ... In post hoc analyses, the mean UPSIT score among individuals with Omicron variant infection (35.19 [95% CI, 34.54-35.84]) was significantly higher than those of individuals with the original (33.11 [95% CI, 31.81-34.41]) and Alpha (32.30 [95% CI, 30.83-33.77]) variant infections (P values = .001). Test scores of participants with the original and Alpha variant infections were the only ones to differ significantly from test scores of participants with no history of COVID-19. 4. I recall crossing the border coming up from Kota Baru back when, and upon seeing a road sign for Narathiwat I experienced the hair on the back of the neck reaction. One day I was headed for Penang, and I later found out that about a half hour after my bus left Hat Yai that they blew up the downtown McD's. Yikes! POLO had a website, I think it is no more. I appreciated something it said about how they are not targeting foreigners, but keep out of our way or you may get hurt.
  5. It's very diificult to avoid reflections if you take a photo with a camera/phone unless you have a polarizing filter as the biometric page (of a UK passport) is glossy. Far better to use a scanner.
  6. Of course they did something wrong. Not in arresting him perhaps, but once the police have restrained a suspect, got them in handcuffs on the ground and that person is in their custody, they have a duty of care towards them. That includes making sure the person who's now in their custody doesn't expire due to lack of care or attention.
  7. First I was a climate immigrant to Thailand, now Im a climate immigrant back home. I packed up my bags and bailed out months before I was supposed to go home. this year I will be staying 8 months back home instead of 6.
  8. a. True statement b. Also, your statement (insatiable drivel) is one of the best examples of a malapropism that I have seen on this forum, to date. c. Hilarious! Do keep them coming, Sir. Please!
  9. The trump Maga cap is a notch more Hillbilly Redneck than a Chang tank top So congratulation
  10. So you don't care about the bike rider because they all drive too fast and wouldn't check on you if the roles were reversed.
  11. You sound like you are gloating and jumping for joy because Palestinians can march in London and Jews cannot , showing off like your team just beat another team Surely you wouldn't be that immature, would you ?
  12. How do you relax in the evening? wrestle bears! It must be hellishly hot up north. I tracked my home temperature with reported figures, and they stayed remarkably close up until about 6pm, but while reported figures went down fairly quickly, the temp in my house and outside stayed pretty high. At 8pm it was still 36, and at midnight an unbelievable 33. Even now the 'feel like' is likely around 40 given 80% humidity. Current example 12:31am : weather report 28 degrees/ 88% humidity/ feels like 34 my house 33
  13. That reminds me of what I've experienced twice with KLM. On both occasions they'd changed the aircraft type on the connecting flight from my local airport to Schiphol. I kid you not, both times they let us all through the gate and stood at the bottom of the aircraft steps inspecting passengers luggage. When I arrived I was told that due to the change, my bag had to go in the hold. As any sensible person would do, I'd put all my valuables in my hand luggage. I told the KLM staff that I'd be happy for them to put my bag in the hold as long as they gave me written assurance they would cover any losses if anything was missing. "No can do sir", "Well I'm sorry then, my bag stays with me, you've changed the aircraft without notice, you should either make arrangements of agree cover" Other passengers heard this and were of the same mind. A long standoff between passengers and crew ensued and then the airport manager arrived. Carried the one of the passenger's bags up the steps, tried it in the locked and it fitted. Private discussion took place and we were all (apart from one guy with the biggest piece of hand luggage I'd ever seen) suddenly allowed to put our luggage in the lockers.
  14. Actually I have started using ChatGPT instead of Google if I look for answers, it will not give you the latest news but you can ask for almost anything and it will come up with a reliable answer most of the times.
  15. They don't like what you like. Many Thai's like noise, commotion, crowds and traffic. The sooner you understand this, the sooner you can decide if you will be happy here or if you need to look for a new place. Don't get angry about it like they messed it up. To them it's being done correctly, or just needs to be continually fixed.
  16. If I fart in an empty elevator and then people get on the elevator do you think they will know I did it? But even more importantly, if I fart again after they get on the elevator then do you think that it would cause an even bigger stink? And if I apologize and insist that I have a mental disorder and that my name is GG do you think that they would agree that I can't be blamed for posting insatiable drivel on AN that nobody needs or wants to read?
  17. Standard hand luggage is 56 x 45 x 25 cm 22 x 14 x 9 inches Carry on under seat 18 x 14 x 8 inches 45 x 36 x 20 cm All depending on your ticket and what you paid for to bring onboard
  18. All interference is welcome. We here, the ones in the know, are protected from the worst effects of posters' interference. Nice HAT!!!
  19. This is a BS story. My guess would be booking.com got scammed.
  20. Car turned and just did not see the motorbike at such high speed coming. the video stops yes and we did not see it all, but if it happened to me I also not check for the bikers here, all drive like on a racetrack without any lights or whatever. did you thing he would look at you when he drove the car,, forget it….
  21. Correct: Doll Houses for Rent. Doll Houses for Sale. I, too, would like to find just one very large room. One with good insulation on the walls. Separate kitchen. Separate toilet. Separate shower. I would have liked to have found: 100 square meters room. Normal size bathroom. Small shower area. Separate kitchen. With a room like this, one is free to arrange living space anyway one chooses. I would like to have mostly tables for computers, cooking items, etc. Living in one very large room is far more comfortable, and better for the soul... Conversely, living in those Doll-house Condos..... Or, you might also call them Bird houses.... If definitely.... For the birds. There are many similar bird houses/doll houses (called condos in the sales literature) being built everywhere. Who lives in them? Only those who, unlike THX1138, know no better. Very claustrophobic, in fact. Just ask THX-1138. Fortunately, I found a sort of compromise, in a house with fewer but larger rooms that can be connected. If I need to move, then I will be searching, again, for the single large room option.
  22. It's a miracle he even survived! Any news on his recovery? Maybe he will never walk again.
  23. I've noticed that on recent flights. I remember having to pay for my hand luggage to go in the hold because it wouldn't fit in the little 'size frame' Etihad used to use - something like 25cm too big, never chanced it since. All the damned airlines have different specs for their hand luggage sizes - seems you have to buy a different one depending on which airline you choose. However, as you say - some people are taking the p*ss. As for it being annoying - yes, much the same as those gits that have rucksacks on their backs and turn around in the aisle next to your seat - knocking you for six!
  24. The legal battle between the entities extends beyond the UK Pfizer and its Germany partner BioNTech have urged London’s High Court to invalidate competitor Moderna‘s patents over technology instrumental in the Covid-19 vaccines development as the latest phase of a global legal fight that started [Tuesday] (23 April), reported Reuters. In September 2022, US pharma company Pfizer and BioNTech filed a lawsuit against Moderna at London’s High Court, seeking to cancel patents held by Moderna. However, days after the filing of the lawsuit, Moderna hit back, levelling allegations that its patents had been infringed. The dispute centres on messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) technology, which has been instrumental in the fight against the pandemic. ... Meanwhile, the legal battle between Pfizer, BioNTech and Moderna extends beyond the UK, with parallel proceedings in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the US, as well as at the European Patent Office.
