Australian Arrested On Phuket For Shooting German Tourists

Hahaha good point..... I met him in Thailand a few years ago and did not know his background. The topic of the Hells Angels came up, and

I blithely said they are nothing more then a drug distribution ring with nice bikes. He rolled up his sleeve and showed me a Hells Angels tattoo

with an out date inked on it. I saw my life flash in front of my eyes until he started laughing.......cheesy.gif Nicest guy in the world until you crossed

him, not sure if that applies to these guys as well.

But the guys they shot didn't cross them.

I'm sure if they were nice to me and I thought they were good guys, after this, I would not be seen with them. I would feel my good guy radar broken (not for the first time).

Just for the fact they shot indescriminantly with innocents around would be enough to make me give them a wide berth. That is just lunacy.

Obviously, the Aussie has been in Thailand too long and has picked up some bad business habits off the Thai's. smile.pngsmile.pngsmile.pngsmile.png

Anyway, two more happy tourists to Phuket. The incident will no doubt make it into the German media.

Phuket in more damage control and spin - but doing very little to stop these types of incidents from happening again, and again, and again, and again.

Yeah, but when they get back to Germany, they will be blaming it all on Australians.. So there goes Australia's tourist stats. whistling.gif

Aussies miss target, shoot Phuket tourists

In handcuffs, one of the two Australians is questioned after his arrest.

PHUKET: -- Two Australians angry with a Danish man who had not repaid money he had borrowed from them, shot at him last night.

They missed, hitting instead two German tourists passing by on Soi Sansabai in Patong.

Joseph Woerner and Johann Baschegger were hit, one in the arm and the other in the shoulder. They were taken to Patong hospital for treatment.

An hour later police arrested the two Australians, whom they named as Adam Lewis and John Cohw [sic]. The latter owns a tattoo shop in Patong and is accused of firing the gun. A Ruger .45 pistol was seized.

The two told police that the Dane had borrowed B380,000 from them. He had not paid any back and, with interest, he now owed them B1 million.

The Danish debtor has not been found, and is believed to be in hiding.

The two Australians are in custody and undergoing further questioning. Cohw was initially charged with attempted murder and with having a gun in a public place.

A few thoughts. There appears to be a inverse correlation between the number of tattoos and IQ after seeing his photo.

Regarding the amount owed, am a bit surprised to see the loan amount of 380,000 baht zoom up to one million baht.

Man I need to get into the loan business. And who in their right mind would loan money to ANYONE here without having

seizable assets to protect the loan...

Also nice to see the guy had a real gun, a Ruger. Some of the guns the vicious Thai gang bangers on scooters carry look like they would be scary to shoot. Anyway this is bad debt collection, popping off a few rounds in the general direction of the debtor and hitting bystanders. I have a friend who used to collect bad debts for the Hells Angeles. He said he would meet the guy , and immediately break his arm. As the guy is laying on the ground screaming, my friend informed him that unless the debt was paid he would then come back and REALLY hurt him. He said everyone paid........

If the debt collectors in Phuket adapted the same concept it would cut down on tourists being shot. whistling.gif

Yea, but if he broke the wrong arm, he wouldn't be able to sign a withdrawal slip - would he?

What i find most interesting is the general lack of indignation on this thread, over this incident, as opposed to the ire apparent on the thread i was just reading where a thai accideintally shot a bystander at the full moon.

Nobody in this thread has been shot DEAD.

There was plenty of outrage against those three British thugs in Pattaya who got into it with the Thai security guards. And plenty of support for the Thais who chased them down Walking Street. Not a lot of sympathy for the farang who drowned in that incident and quite a lot of sentiment expressing the desire that the other two had drowned as well. Edited by saroq

-snip-

This Aussie looks like a bit of a bruiser, with the exception of the Chucky tattoo. The Dane guy they were trying to get money from must have been REALLY tough if the two Aussie guys felt they had to shoot him first to soften him up...

He doesn't look so tough right now though, does he?

Aussies in resort gun chase. - Tourists shot as Mafia row boils over in Thai town.

Two Australian tattoo parlour owners in Thailand have been arrested and charged with attempted murder after two German tourists were caught in their crossfire.

The Australians allegedly tried to "strike first" against the alleged mafioso, named by police only as "Dannie."

They are also reported to have links with a motorcycle club known as the Rebel MC.

Thank God it was an Aussie. Were it an American today Phuket would have a street-full of dead people.

dam_n right. Americans are 100% for complete gun control, which means hitting your target. clap2.gifcheesy.gif

Why does America always wind through these threads even when the involved were Aussie and Euro's??????

Criminals with guns are a problem everywhere, including Thailand. thumbsup.gif

Quite so. Fortunately numerous such inverse correlation markers exist throughout much of the farang community in Thailand so that you may know at a glance whom to avoid. Besides tattoos, we have Mohawk hairdos, braided beards, baldies except for ponytails, motorcyclists wearing flip-flops, shorts, and either a Thai plastic pot or no helmet, bicyclists (at least one, since departed, draped in gold glitter), youth on rented superbikes, fat old farts in speedos etc.

And, all wearing cargo pants.

Do they come from Doveton or Frankston or maybe even Broadmedows in Australia, Just asking! Total F@#$kwits put them in jail and throw away the key! sad.pngbah.gif

Just watched this on the Australian news (headline story) They say both have been charged with attempted murder which carries a 20 yr sentence but if they plead guilty it can be cut to 10 yrs. Then they also stated that the police can broker a settlement with the victims for compensation and charges can be dropped if all parties agree. I kid you not they mentioned that on the television news.

Sounds like a good solution. I wonder if they are going to apply the same interest rate as these boys used on the Dane? Would that would be justice?

Phuket Gazette -

...

Col Chiraphat expressed his concern about how detrimental such an incident could be to Phuket’s vital tourism industry.

“The suspects opened up fire in the middle of a dense tourism area and injured two innocent people. They have seriously tarnished Thailand’s reputation and must face the highest penalties under the law,” Col Chiraphat said.

What, all by themselves?

Chooka :

It is reported in the Australian media that it is the Rebels M.C that he is connected with not the Angels.

Sorry I was not clear. The guy I was referring was someone else I had met a number of years ago who was in fact a former Hells Angel. And hands down the most fearsome person I had ever met in my life. He was the enforcer for the club if that tells you anything......smile.png

Anyone who is willing to kill someone over money is just a thug, it dosen't matter if it is owed or not. That's not how a normal person handles business. What a stupid man.

And to top it off, carrying a gun when you have no clue how to shot one is just more stupidity. Where do these idiots come from?

And don't say Australia, please.

Aussies held over Thai shooting seeking bail

Two Australian men arrested on the Thai resort island of Phuket in a shooting incident are due to face court in a bid to secure bail, legal sources say. John Edward Cohen, 33, believed to be from Sydney, and Adam Lewis Shea, 26, from Launceston were arrested after a shooting incident on Tuesday evening that left two German tourists injured, one seriously.

Thai police investigations are examining possible links between the men and the Australian motorcycle gang, the Bandidos. But local sources say the Australians were members of a rival group, the Rebel Motorcycle Club. The acting NSW police commissioner today said he had concerns about the "spreading" influence of bikie gangs overseas.

Lawyers for the men are expected to apply for bail when they appear before a local judge late on Thursday. Police are reportedly reviewing CCTV footage of the incident, which happened in an area packed with tourists. Police allegedly arrested Cohen and Shea within an hour of the shooting and were questioning the pair over the incident. They were reportedly charged with attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

Well fellow TVers, I hate say I told you so....but I told you so...

Months ago I wrote identifying that the infiltration of Australian bikie gangs into the east coast of Thailand, including Phuket and Khao Lak is a very serious problem.

They are here to manufacture and peddle Ya Ice.

Have a look at post #20 from this thread on the future of Khao Lak

http://www.thaivisa...._hl__ khao lak

As always...other TV posters flamed me and suggested that I was a tinfoil hat wearing lunatic.

You ain't seen nothing yet. This is just the start of it...

Stayed tuned for more gang warfare between the Banditos, Nomads and Rebels as they fight for control of the Ya Ice trade.

I personally know 1 of the alleged shooters and I have always known him to be a decent sensible guy. I have no idea what has happened and from the reports I am reading neither do many people including the media and police. I love watching the ensuing speculation, twisted explanations and general tripe start to emerge from forum members that is par for the course when something is posted on here about Phuket. Quality entertainment.clap2.gif

A 32 year old and a 26 year old making a living in Phuket from doing tattoos. Mmmmmmmmm, really.

Will you be visiting him in gaol, since he's a "decent and sensible guy?"

I'd visit him if he went to gaol. Not a problem. Lets not go overboard though. Even if he is charged and even if he does go to court, who is to say he will go to gaol? We are talking about Thailand.

Yes, you are right, and this why Phuket has the crime problem it has today.

Hope the bail amount is made public.

I am curious to see if it is less than the 130KTHB the young Swiss backpacker had to pay up in Ranong for alledgedly stealing a camera.

Didn't they have thier bail application before the courts today? Any news, rumours on the outcome.

No bail for now.

They've been held over and transferred from their police holding cells to the main prison on Phuket where they will stay until prosecutors finalize the cases against them.

Also,

Senior Thai police said the burst of fire in the middle of a tourist area called for "the highest penalties under the law".

The men have yet to make an official plea, which will be presented to the court at the next hearing, expected within 12 days.
