"Best" Sim Only deal for a 3 month stay in Thailand
topt replied to Maud's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
You would likely get better feedback here - https://aseannow.com/forum/146-mobile-devices-and-apps/ and there are some threads there which may help if you haven't seen them already -
I just did a quick search and first result was https://www.garminworldmaps.com/product/thailand-garmin-map/ At 14.95 euros..... From memory the Thai maps on my Garmin Nuvi bought here are called City Navigator but cover all of Thailand

You haven't been following this mega thread which is still going..........sensible if not Link is to current last page https://aseannow.com/topic/1306896-thai-government-to-tax-all-income-from-abroad-for-tax-residents-starting-2024/page/202/#comment-18599689 Also please note it is not a new tax........they have said they will remove the loophole about money remitted the following year after being earnt not being taxed. As someone else mentions you may not see anything on this for a while as theoretically any changes for 2024 don't really affect anybody until they file a tax return from January 1 2025 - so should be nothing to do with the banks. Until there is some clarity from the Thai RD everyone is just guessing.........

Thailand’s Central Retail eyes potential investment in Selfridges
topt replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That's what I was thinking but according to the article it is the parent company who made the investment and not Central Retail Corp. if interested see here for the current situation - https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blog/2024/01/selfridges-central-stake/ -
A friend just bought from the "night market" roughly opposite Central on 2nd Road - said there were quite a few shops selling so was able to bargain on price.

Not disagreeing with anything you say here except the "you guys" which since you have replied to me includes me. Please show me where I have suggested you are an "idiot"? I thought my post was clear in that I was criticising firstly a comparison you used and secondly the way you came across.........Apologies if that didn't come across clear enough but since @jayboy has been essentially signalling the same I am surprised.

What did you expect to see........the changes don't cause anything to happen until tax returns are filed, or not, from 1/01/25........... For people who may want to make themselves non tax resident they have another 177 days or whatever. You weren't really expecting any more clarity before 1/01/24 were you.......

I tried that when last in the UK as I wanted to check out prospective renters........ I made one search of a name and they blocked me......

Not sure why you would fall foul as long as no pics attached? However can you please send to me as well unless a Phuket only shop. Thanks.

Last Sunday evening it certainly wasn't quiet. Had a DJ playing and was louder than I would have liked.

Are you aware that there is a one page form that can be used to regain tax withheld on interest? Or there was as I haven't done one for a few years. The form had the no. 10 on it after some Thai script. I never completed the full tax return (PND90?) to reclaim.
-
Well not to me it doesn't but I don't use that method. I can see the logic of where you and possibly they are coming from. However AFAIK the 65k isn't meant to just sit there but be spent so whether you spend it on tax or food should make no difference. Also any tax wont be paid until the following calendar year after it has been remitted.

You may want to have a read of these links if you haven't already - https://aseannow.com/topic/1301695-april-or-pacific-cross/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1306387-april-international-some-premium-increase-analysis/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1305852-question-for-april-international-france-policyholders/ AA Insurance brokers in Thailand are now owned by Alliance Insurance who coincidentally also own Regency. Thai based brokers are not supposed to be selling International policies so the holding company set up AA World to offer them - but they are based in India. Not sure who you had contact with? I renewed direct with April International last month on the basis that I could not find a more optimal (cost/value) policy that I trusted. I also removed AA World as my broker. Sheryl has moved her business to a French based broker who deals with April and I think that is recorded in one of the threads above.

Sounds like a trick question.........No - not correct in absolute terms. Simplistically this whole thread is about a change in a directive which essentially removes a loophole of being able to remit income in the following year from which it was earned and not pay any tax on it - for any tax resident. If you really (and I am not sure how serious you are) didn't know that I suggest you go back and read from the start.
