  1. is it 500 now? Always used to be 300 for 1 and 500 for 2 - which they tried to push if you wanted for car and bike although Pattaya DLT (at Regents) has always accepted one original and one copy in the past.
  2. I can but not with only 100k baht a month - what will that be worth in 10/20 years after inflation.......
  3. No but North London.
  4. Many of these were in common use when I was younger in the UK. Whether they were picked up from the backpacker diaspora or originally from England I have no idea.
  5. Or would it be where the tax was being paid or more to the point where you complete a tax return (if you do....)?
  6. Ehh, actually they didn't announce that at all. What they announced was a change in the way they would deal with foreign remittances or whatever. The fact that foreign tax residents (Expats in your terminology) will be caught up in the change is a consequence but I doubt any sane person would suggest it was specifically aimed at every "Expat"...... You have posted some interesting thoughts/questions on this subject so not sure why you "repost" something which is risible........
  7. With most insurance you can usually add as an extra if not included. Usually for less than 1000 baht if my memory serves me correctly.
  8. Just because the US DTA may cover you does not mean all DTA's do...... As one example UK/Thai DTA does not cover the state or Company/private pensions....... I do sort of agree with your last line though
  9. Your interpretation? Also could depend on different DTA agreements and interpretation of. Covered over and over and over in one of the many tax threads - have you read it? The reason I query is that in one of them someone posted an interview from a blogger with a supposed tax lawyer who said they were discussing details with the RD but still had no clear answers.........
  10. Define uptight? We have middle to upper Thai's, some with dogs but none of them bark incessantly or even occasionally.......
  11. I thought he was going to Buriram.........
  12. Sorry but where did this happen? Either they have a picture of you or not. I have never had this happen in many years of going through toll booths........ One time I was stopped was in a central/right hand lane as I had inadvertently crossed a solid white line to get to the toll booth exit - but was let off.
  13. yes to the first bit and no to the second. Cash lanes and other options usually well marked. Apart from a couple of newer tolls all the rest have barriers which means you would end up having to reverse out to the irritation of the other traffic affected....... The ones with no barriers I think you get a chance to pay online (supposed to pay in advance) but not sure and you could end up getting a fine in the post. Yes. Try a search as have been several discussions on here about them. Personally I stick to just using cash and suck up the potential delay due to any queues Have a safe trip
  14. That was my first thought Second one was if they get these numbers it will be a nightmare -
  15. With SCB I only get them if I ask for it. The last couple of years I have had SCB forex dept. send it to me by email when they ring up to agree the transfer into baht. That way I know I have my own record.
  16. I also had this done 2 years ago - package price then was 200k. @oobar before committing I found this thread very useful -
  17. What you should also point out is that up until now very few foreigners who may fall into that bracket were either unaware or just did not bother. The only one's who seem to have had any issue with the Thai RD over it are those who applied for a tax rebate and the RD wanted further details of income or similar. You could say that enforcement has been fairly similar to many other "laws" here........
  18. I think something may have been missed in translation but if not another option is to send out via Dee money https://www.deemoney.com/
  19. Can I ask why is anyone updating or even keeping the app? I couldn't see any further use for it (possibly shortsighted?) so deleted it a while ago.............
  20. Thanks. A nice clear article although I would take issue with one of his comments depending on your perception - "hiding" suggests evasion whereas many people use off shore accounts quite legitimately. If a UK person is registered as non-resident for tax it could make sense to hold investments off shore and under the current Thai rules can pay no tax on the income generated. I know that is different for US folks. When/if the new rules come to pass that option unfortunately disappears.
  21. Do we really need another thread on this..... There are already several - this one is up to 156 pages......
  22. I think you will find that he was taking the proverbial (piss)
  23. From the first link Anybody know what she is supposedly referring to?
  24. Like children....... Both of you are probably well aware that American English tends to use a z in many words like this whereas more traditional British spelling uses an s........ from your link above @Moonlover
