You are officially a tax resident in Thailand if you spend 180 days or more per calendar year here. That is 100% true......Doesn't matter if working or not. Talk initially was about taxing what is remitted to Thailand so not necessarily all your foreign income although there have been some more recent noises about doing so since the initial announcement.

You could try talking to Thai Euro Law - office in the soi that runs parallel to Pattaya Tai behind Big C on Suk. I haven't used them for a while but presume still there. Rina is the Filapino wife to the Thai lawyer - so should be no comprehension issues.

I am presuming your broker is based in Thailand? If so are they just ignoring the regulations which suggest they should not be offering up International based insurers - I am basing this on several comments in other threads by @Etaoin Shrdlu and my own experience (and others) with AA Insurance brokers?
