Cash advance with debit card question
gamb00ler replied to djeetyet's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I've only done 1 ATM withdrawal with my Schwab Visa debit card in Dec '21. The ฿ was much higher then. I received 16K ฿ from the ATM but I think the ATM requested a withdrawal of 16,220 ฿ to include the extra fee for using foreign debit card. $484.61 was withdrawn for the 16,220 ฿. As in your case I was given a credit of $6.57 for the extra 220 ฿ withdrawn. I would calculate my exchange rate as 16220/484.61 = 33.4702. To check that rate I also see that 220 ฿ / 6.57 = 33.4855 which is different probably due to round off error. -
Climate change: July set to be world's warmest month on record

Please identify which of the facts are in that category. CO₂ is a greenhouse gas. CO₂ concentrations are rising. The increase in CO₂ is primarily due to burning fossil fuels and other human actions. The warming of the planet past a certain temperature will accelerate the rate of planet warming. CO₂ is a very stable molecule and will naturally remain in the atmosphere until removed by plants or by human effort. -
I thought the strongest indication of the best use of these items was given in their name. If you know of a charity that thinks they would be useful I will not refuse their request.

How wide are your doorways?
gamb00ler replied to The Fugitive's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Bedroom and hallway door openings are 87cm, front door 102cm, hallways are 110cm. We also have a double door entrance in the hallway connecting the two houses. We asked for doors wide enough for wheelchair access to all bedrooms. -
They're called blankets only because they're used to cover things. They are very coarse material, deteriorate very quickly when outside, don't smell so great even when new.... have you guys never worked with this type of blanket? If I had a tent with a ground sheet, I would put the ground sheet on top of the moving blanket. Our dog probably would turn her nose up at such a bed. She's become convinced she's a princess. ????

I don't think anyone would willing cover themselves with these moving blankets, even the ones that are in excellent shape.

Cash advance with debit card question
gamb00ler replied to djeetyet's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Tue thru Friday at around 7AM (Thai time) Visa publishes the exchange rate that will be in effect until the new rate is published. That rate can be found at: https://www.visa.co.uk/support/consumer/travel-support/exchange-rate-calculator.html MasterCard rate is also online at: https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/personal/get-support/convert-currency.html You will have to specify that you are converting from Thai ฿ to your home currency. Since you receive Thai ฿ at the bank, you need to specify the "From" currency as ฿ and the "To" currency as that of your foreign account. It can seem counterintuitive. -
Cash advance with debit card question

Hopefully you are using a debit card that does not charge a foreign transaction fee. Charles Schwab and CapitalOne and some credit unions offer cards with out that fee. -
Cash advance with debit card question
gamb00ler replied to djeetyet's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I think it does not matter if you have an account at the bank where you choose to do a cash advance. As long as you don't mind walking out with all the cash you received. I would suggest being a customer is likely to make it easier for the bank to say yes. In the land of the free I often got cash advances at banks where I was not a customer. I can't give a positive response to your query. I can only say that I've asked at SCB, Kasikorn and Land and House banks. None of them were able/willing to do a cash advance. -

I'm annoyed more by the farangs that drive carelessly because most of them DO know better. I have to cut the locals a little slack because they probably were never taught to give safety a high priority. -
About 25-30 moving blankets that have been used at least twice. I bought them used in US, then packed a 20' container with household goods using them. I am NOT moving again until the last BBQ... Please make an appointment one or more days in advance via private message. Pretty much any day after 8AM and before 6PM. We're located close to Hang Dong Makro or Big C mall.

Thankfully we have you as the one of the few who realize that the 10's of thousands of medical workers and researchers have engaged in the largest conspiracy in history. -
If you're collecting US social security with a Thai address, you can request a proof of benefit letter using an online SSA account. It will show your Thai address in English of course. You can download the letter and print it. The letter will have SSA's letterhead. The letter will be dated on the day you request it. Unfortunately it will include your benefit amount and your Medicare number. You may not want to spread around those details.

I love how the bottom part of a chart gets cut off so that minor changes in the top 1% of the chart look monstrous! -
Yeah... probably not grapao. The leaves in the OP's picture could be holopah, but they do look a little too wide. I married my Thai wife in USA and lived there with her for 21 years. Bai grapao was very hard to find so my wife used regular sweet basil for this dish. It was a pretty reasonable substitute, in fact better than regular Thai basil. As is normal for her, she trimmed off most of the fat from the chicken and or pork she used. She also cut back on the added sugar. The basil and chilli's came from our back yard usually just minutes before cooking. Pud grapao is still one of my favorites but I like it made with ½ pork and ½ chicken and with normal Thai level of heat. Some times with 2cm pieces of long beans added.

BACKBLAZE: What To you Tink About Backblaze for consumer use?

Amazon offers some really cheap options. Basically the longer you are willing to wait for a retrieval/restore operation the cheaper the rate. -
The answer is ..... it depends. If you go to the Thai Revenue department and apply for a Thai tax ID, AND you have a Pink ID number.... that number becomes (or is already) your Thai tax ID. If you don't have a Pink ID number, the revenue department will assign you a new tax ID number. If you subsequently get a Pink ID number it will NOT be your tax ID. In other words... the first number you get (tax ID/Pink ID) will be your tax number.
