You should read the whole thread first..But because you obviously haven't, this is part of a post by another member (just a few posts above this one) that explains why. _________________________________________________ Just in case you missed my 2nd post I'm going to repost verbatim the reply I received from Bank of Thailand. "Facial Recognition is a requirement in Thailand for ALL retail customers, INCLUDING FOREIGNERS, when transferring more than 50k baht per transaction or 200k baht per day via Mobile banking. Foreigners who haven't updated their facial photos must update the photo at bank branches with their passport" _________________________________________________

@spidermike007Yangon was the capital, for a long time. Myanmar is name the nationalists gave the new capital. Yangon is still effectively the only major city in the nation. And the same people who are causing genocide, created the new capital. I don't honor them by using either term. Respect has to be earned and should never be freely given. Call me a rebel. Just don't ever call me a robot. Sorry Mike you are wrong and scottiejohn is correct. You are getting mixed up. The country of Burma was officially changed to Myanmar, and the original Capital of Rangoon was officially changed to Yangon in 1989. Naypyidaw was carved out of the jungle and became the official capital at the end of 2005. Just a bit of history for you.

How to get a Yellow House Book ?
couchpotato replied to bondjames007's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The yellow book is only in Thai (your name is translated from your passport). So not sure why it wouldn't help you with whatever you are wanting to do. -
How to get a Yellow House Book ?
couchpotato replied to bondjames007's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No you cannot have the house registered in your name (either on the Chanoot or the Blue House book), but you can apply for a Yellow House Book which basically confirms your permanent address (you can apply for a Pink ID card once you have obtained the Yellow book). There are a few threads on the Yellow House book, so suggest you read those for more info. Hope that helps. -
At 17 then both parents need to be there, and as that will be the case, then it is a very easy process. You as the foreign father may need to sign one paper, but that's it. So all that's required is your daughters passport(have her ID card handy), her mothers ID card and your passport. Also at that age she will only get a 5 year passport, even though Thai's are now eligible for 10 year passports now. Actually the Thai passport Agency is one of the most streamlined. PS: You will have the choice of picking the passport up personally, or having it posted to your home address by EMS (usually within 5 days). PPS: I doubt they will ask about divorce, custody, but wouldn't hurt to have those docs with you anyway. Good luck

E-Z Retirement Extension - Jomtien

32 minutes ago, shortstop2 said: Yup, a buddy got snared into the dragon lady's trap. But she had an expensive solution. Have read about said lady. Fortunately have never had the pleasure.. Edited 3 minutes ago by DrJack54 Gents I think you'll find the so called 'Dragon lady' is on the 'marriage desk', not the 'retirement desk' where there are apparently no dragons. -

Water Pressure , what's it like in your area ?
couchpotato replied to worgeordie's topic in Chiang Mai
Which is the way the majority of people do ie: 1000-2000 litre tank, 150-305 w pump (and sometimes a small pressure tank after the pump). Relying on mains water for your house in most areas, does not give sufficient pressure for 24 hrs useage. -
Are you and the OP talking about this website? If yes, I don't see any adds whatsoever. Completely add free.

when you collect your passport at 90 days, Can you clarify this statement, possibly you mean 30 days, if not then confused with the 90 day statement. thanks. -
The median on the road is an absolute disaster, far too low. Yesterday saw one car straddled over the middle...one wheel in the gap, so the car frame sitting on the concrete lip. A week ago saw a bike in the same predicament. Couple that with the dangerous high drain cover frames on the inside of the road...amazing engineering.

As for taxes, the answer is no. But you will probably get many different answers here that will contradict each other, but actually if you work online in your condo, and don't broadcast what you are doing, then nobody is the wiser. Keep a low profile. Actually I think I read recently about new laws/regulations coming into effect soon to cover people/digital nomads like yourself, so once you are here, that will be worth checking out.

Silly boy...I agreed with your "what's the point" because the requirements at this time do seem a bit pointless to stop scammers. But if you put your glasses on, you'll see that the face scans are only for internal bank records at this time (but this of course could change later). Once you have updated/verified at your bank, there is no need for ATM or phone face scans for any transactions, even over the stated limits, at this time. This is the official information available from banks at this time. So maybe in July when these changes are supposed to be fully implemented, we will have definite answers, and possibly new regulations also. But anything that might help stop scamming of people and their bank accounts can only be welcome. End of conversation.
