  2. The eternal joy of EVs 😊 😃. Text: The battery frame is bent. BYD does not sell it separately. Had to buy the entire battery set for nearly 700,000 when including other repair costs. Over a million baht.
  3. So EV cars are all about performance? Sounds like petrol heads with a short circuit.
  4. From 800 to 0 km/h in 1 minute. I think we can rule out break failure as the cause of the crash.

  6. Apparently it was a friendly fire 🔥.
  7. Introducing the Corolla killer. https://thedriven.io/2024/02/22/corolla-killer-byd-launches-us15000-ev-in-direct-attack-on-legacy-makers/ The Qinky has a small 100 kW engine and now idea how they can squeeze 420 km out of a 48 kWh battery. Magic maybe ✨️.
  8. Pib, do you know when BYD will have the first car rolling of local production line? Earlier reports suggested late 2024, but no update as far as I can find.
  9. Do it with your extension and you need this form. 22.Transfer-Stamp-to-New-Passport-Form.pdf
  10. Good points and you probably understand the Thai economy better than most of us. I think the fear is what might come later in 2024, man made or natural slowdown. It is never great to be on top (or bottom) of this list, especially if household debt is high.
  11. Just like Venezuela 🇻🇪 did?
  12. Kitiphong Thaichareon BANGKOK (Reuters) -Thailand's economy unexpectedly contracted in the fourth quarter of 2023 and policymakers downgraded the outlook for this year... https://www.aol.com/news/thai-economy-shrinks-adds-rate-030448206.html
  13. Will be interesting to see how BYD deals with the European "right to repair" law. (The new law mandates sellers to propose repairs if products fail during the legal guarantee period, accompanied by a one-year extension of the guarantee after repair.) Prior to your BYD purchase, you investigated the BYD warranty pretty well and it is, at least on paper, pretty good for the first 6 years. However a few BYD owners have been caught in small cracks in the warranty; software problems. BYD dealers then claim it can only be solved by a technician from China and they have been left car-less for month.
  14. I think the gap between EV manufacturer's battery warranty and what SeñorLA wish/hope/dream to squeeze out of his battery 🔋 is as wide as Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon.
  15. I think your source is right that RD is homing in on taxing rental income. When the new real-estate tax was rolled out a few years ago, people's primary residence were exempt from taxation, so people came forward in droves to claim residence. RD can now focus on the remaining condos. Sure, some are just empty, used as occasional city dwellings, but many are probably rentals. How will RD establish which are rentals? They don't have access to banking data, at least not yet.
  16. You up the ante by calling for a 3 month y-o-y decline, but unless you have an early date at the Pearly gate, we will both see that. At some point the second hand EV market will take customers away from the new vehicle market. Not yet, but in a few years.
  17. Is rental income from a condo in Thailand taxable income? I have yet to hear about a landlord paying taxes on rental income, both Thai and foreign landlords.
  18. Fair points, but should be easy to beat the March/April 2023 numbers in 2024. Sustaining close 10k in November/December might be more of a challenge.
  19. Drop in new EV sales (registration) by month y-o-y.
  20. Let's see when the pudding 🍮 goes sour. When do you think we will see the first y-o-y drop in EV sales in Thailand? Late 2024 or early 2025?
  21. What you are saying is there are others out there, I am not alone?
  22. Found it. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/us/comment/2024/02/06/biden-green-evs-electric-cars-target-energy-madness/
  23. I can't find a link to the original chart, but I agree with Pib, the chart is overly optimistic in regards to the value of petrol and diesel cars. While searching I did however come across this, so the message might still be true.
  24. EVs win the race to zero value.
