  1. I have to admit I am surprised that such camps exist at all in Thailand. Soldiers and behaviour modification camp on military premises for students, really?
  2. Maybe the police should regularly check these things. If there is a cut wire, confiscate them, destroy them, and fine the users. But obviously this will never happen in Thailand.
  3. And I always thought there must be at least one red wire be involved.
  4. Proper care is a good idea. And quality manufacturing and quality control are also a good idea. And obviously any substandard battery vehicles should not be sold, and it should be illegal to use them in public.
  5. In theory you are right. But probably you know that this is a common way to do this in Thailand. My ex-landlord could have asked that I pay the last rent. He didn't even ask. And about renting a new place. It seems to me that in Bangkok there are lots and lots of places to rent. If a landlord found someone who wants to rent a place and has the two months deposit ready, then I guess very few will do a background check on the new renter first. That's just reality.
  6. So, according to you, if there are poor and middle class people in a country and bus accidents happen, then there can't be rich people who live a luxury life at the same time. Interesting.
  7. It seems you have a very limited view of Thailand. Maybe visit some luxury condominiums and shopping malls. That should convince you it is possible to live in luxury in Thailand. And there are many great restaurants out there. And let's not forget all those beautiful girls and women. Where else can you go into a restaurant or shopping mall, and you see plenty of them all the time.
  8. It depends. If you are in the middle of Pattaya and Thais see that you are new in town then don't be surprised if they try to get a lot of money from you. If you have some experience some Thais will still try, but then it's up to you if you let that happen. I don't know if this is good news or bad news, but Thais don't only try to make money from unexperienced foreigners but also from their own brothers and sisters from up country. I heard enough stories from Thai who arrived at a bus depot or airport inside Thailand and then the locals try to overcharge them just like they do with foreigners.
  9. So where do you live? Or are you part of those who, according to you, have no brain. Personally, I guess I would still live in Thailand even if I would be rich.
  10. Unofficial version: That cost you 10k per month and then don't worry. Sorry, this week we have to pretend that we care and work for the public.
  11. a) try it on a different PC b) remove the HDD from its case and use another case (with electronic). If you want to keep your data, then don't mess around with it.
  12. We need pictures of all of them, before and after.
  13. It seems to me there are many different oranges with different tastes. I think blood oranges are the tastiest which I remember.
  14. And that make sense so that they have money to do necessary repairs and renovations. Old building which are in need of repair are a much bigger problem.
  15. The first part is correct. But don't blame the condo. You didn't inform yourself.
  16. Sunrise - most of the time. I like daylight.
  17. Mostly I agree with this and other similar posts. But it seems to me many Thais spend more time sitting in their cars in traffic than being at home not sleeping. If I would spend 4h every day in my car then probably I would also buy something nice.
  18. I think you know the answer. It's about status. Just look how many people run around with starbucks cups. Do they do that because their coffee is so great? Or do people do that to show they can afford that brand - even if they can't really afford it.
  19. Come on, everybody in the village will see your new car when you drive around. And when you visit the relatives in another province you can't take your house with you, but you will take your shiny new car with you. Look here, I am somebody!
  20. When I see it correctly, the currency exchange change is < 10%. Obviously 10% is significant, but is it lifestyle changing? If someone lived with 50k a month and now he has only 45k, will that make a substantial difference? Or 100k a month and then suddenly only 90k a month? Do many people live so near on the edge that 10% is lifestyle changing?
  21. Yes, they do that as long as they get loans. That's why it's a good idea to don't give loans to people who can't afford them.
  22. Who cares? If people can afford to pay for cars and/or have a good credit rating, then they will buy cars. And if they can't afford them and/or have a bad credit rating, then they won't buy cars. That seems to me very reasonable.
  23. The last one is probably 10 times more expensive than the first one. I think a good strategy is to have an idea which hospitals have reasonable prices. That will possibly save a ton of money. Obviously, some of the more expensive hospitals also have better service. Which is good to know if necessary.
