  1. Oh come on! So she got drunk. That doesn't give the scumbag the right to rape her. Taxi drivers are a public service to a certain extent, where passengers expect to be safely taken to their destination without fear of assault or robbery. Even in Thailand. Someone like him shouldn't be allowed to drive a taxi in the first place. The screening, to filter out criminals etc., while not 100% effective in any country, seems woefully inadequate here.
  2. I can't answer your question, but can only suggest maybe looking on AlieExpress for the same item. See if it is cheaper there.
  3. Can't they use rice noodles instead of wheat?
  4. The difficulty in obtaining a US visa springs to mind. US tax and banking regulations might also be a negative.
  5. I would go for one of the Samsung A series. Other than that, an OPPO. I recently bought a Samsung for 6000 ish Baht. A little more than your budget, but it wasn't the cheapest model. You might find a deal on Lazada, but to be honest, if I was buying a phone, I would prefer to do it in person in a shop. Here is an example: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/samsung-galaxy-a30s-ram464gb-3-i499300901-s888790189.html?freeshipping=1&search=1&spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.i42.44f2bdbbVXIoMN
  6. I don't know if you could find them in Thailand, but as far as what I would call it? A pimp lounger. Complete with voyeur seats.
  7. It's not just here in Thailand. It's happening in many countries. I t's a speciality of Indian scammers who set up call centres manned by staff who prey on vunerable or less tech savvy people, usually the elderly. Buy even careful people can sometimes fall for their traps. Scum that ruin peoples lives. I think there was a poster in another thread that recently linked a Youtube video on how they work.
  8. US$3 million comprehensive medical insurance? I know Thai hospitals are expensive, but that seems excessive.
  9. I hope they don't try and charge them the "farang" price for entering a national park.
  10. Smart phone voice control system. "There is an app for that". iOS and Android.
  11. Staff cuts for bankruptcy and surge in numbers travelling have probably combined to cause these delays.
  12. I used to see them every October here in Samui on a patch of overgrown land. Then someone cut back all the growth two years ago. Although it has all grown back, I have not seen any since. A shame as I had never seen fireflies before, so I used to look forward to seeing them.
  13. Looking to book a one week break in Krabi in July. School summer holidays for our daughter, and I know it can be wetter on the west coast at this time of year.. Was searching the internet and came across a nice hotel on booking.com for under THB25,000. Similar price on Agoda. Decided to check the hotel's own website as I have always found it as cheap or cheaper to book there. But not this time. THB73,000 for the same room. How do these discounts work? Do the hotels just sell off a block of rooms at cheap rates to fill the hotel? Why would a hotel not offer similar discounts on its own website? Surely they would save paying a commission to these other companies.
  14. I always feel as if I am suspected of being a shoplifter when I go to HP. Cannot browse without a member of staff following me and watching my every move. Really annoying.
  15. The Banks are providing ATM's as much for their own sake as customers. They make more money, require less branches and staff. It's in the name: Automated Teller Machines. I wonder how long it will be before they start to charge for each online transfer? Pre Covid BKK Bank allowed only 5 free online transactions / month before charging a small fee. Covid and the fear of transmission by handling notes caused the banks to drop that fee. This then enabled them to make massive cost savings by closing branches, and cutting staff. but sooner or later they will be looking at how to increase profits again. Just like they keep increasing ATM charges, What's to stop them reintroducing online transfer fees?
  16. A friend swears by Starling Bank (an online bank). But as others have posted, you will need a UK address. Not only that. You will probably be asked for proof of address: Council Tax, utility bill etc.
  17. It's not a scam to charge an ATM fee, but THB220? That's taking the p***.
  18. I have the orange and blue one on the left and use it in english. Never seen the other one. You could maybe try signing in to your account via the Lazada website https://www.lazada.co.th and see if changing the language there makes any difference. For your information. on the website, its the last button top far right, after LOGIN and SIGN UP. In the app itself, once signed in there is a small gear wheel top right. Click on that and you should see country and Language settings. HTH
  19. I don't think they are flying BKK to LHR at the moment, but things might change by October when OP wants to go. Direct flights. I always used them prior to Covid. Also worth noting that EVA does do Premier Deluxe. Similar to Premium Economy which OP normally uses on BA.
  20. What goes on in Parliamentary Club, stays in Parliamentary Club.
  21. Try Lazada: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/lamisil-15g-i2718166252.html Shows lots for sale on there.
