  1. But isn't there a rule that any income brought into Thailand more than 12 months after it was earned is no liable to taxation? Are you saying that is now being changed?
  2. Why should foreigners be paying tax in Thailand if their home country has a double tax agreement with Thailand? Government services and infrastructure? What a laugh. The electricity blacks out all the time, We have water trucks to deliver water because water pressure is too low to reach us, the roads are full of potholes, and flood every time it rains. They want to charge you double to enter National Parks It's alright paying a fair share if you are getting something for it. They'll probably get more revenue from expats because many Thais don't pay tax anyway. I wonder if they will change the rule on not taxing income brought in if earned the year before? Because that could also be a way around it. Also. Bringing a lump sum in readies each time someone returns from home, could put them under any earnings limit.
  3. Eliminating the odd spy or dissident is a Russian thing. Kim Jong Un just doesn't care who he kills in his own country. Probably North Korean runaways in other countries too. He had his half brother killed in Malaysia a couple of years ago. He is a paranoid "wild card" nutcase in my opinion. Most western countries have likely eliminated someone for vengeance or to suit their aims at sometime or other. i.e. Osama Bin Laden. But to assassinate a Head of State is a whole different kettle of fish that could cause more problems than it's worth. Russia is virtually a mafia state, so you could end up with someone far worse.
  4. Don't totally rely on PTFE tape. There are often joints that just won't seal using it.. Buy some pipe jointing compound as well. Rectoseal from Lazada is what I used. The one thing I couldn't find here was a hank of fibre (used to use horse hair in the old days) to replace the PTFE tape.
  5. Thailand still has many animals, reptiles insects etc that can be harmful. Snakes such as cobras and vipers, Rare big cats such as Tigers and Clouded Leopards, Scorpions, Giant Centipedes, Scorpions. Even elephants can kill you. Mind you, the most dangerous is one of the smallest. The Aedes Egypti mosquito, which can carry Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya. I live in a residential/ tourist area, and we often see snakes. Mostly harmless tree snakes, but occasionally cobras. even a three metre python. The locals quickly kill them. Even in the countryside a lot of wildlife will be killed. Either because its considered dangerous, or because its considered edible by the locals. if you intend to go off path exploring the jungle, either go with someone knowledgable, or go prepared. Even in the popular tourist places such as Phuket and Samui, there are often news reports of people going missing after wandering into the jungle, getting lost. and either being rescued or found dead. To get the best experience you would be better off booking a guided tour in one of the many National Parks in Thailand. What I will say, is that even living in a touristy area, the birdlife is a whole lot more colourful and beautiful than what I was used to in London. Kingfishers, Eagles, bright yellow Orioles? All a lot prettier than pigeons and Sparrows. Bring your camera, and enjoy.
  6. Thinking about it, seeing as the app went down on Friday night, it won't even be looked at again by those who maintain it, until Monday morning. So maybe back up and running tomorrow.
  7. Thanks. That is the same message showing on my screen.
  8. I keep the Thai app on my iphone as I imagine many others do, that provides a record of all my COVID vaccinations. Last night I received a notification via the app that seems to have locked it up. I can no longer open it. Has this happened to anyone else? I am reluctant to delete and try to download again, in case I lose all the info. You can see the app in the screenshot. Green one, bottom right, showing that is has received a notification.
  9. I'm just recovering from a similar thing. Had a couple of plates inserted two weeks ago. Back to see surgeon tomorrow to have stitches removed. So you still aren't walking without a cane or crutch after almost six months? Wow! I didn't think it would be that long. I am 65. I hope it doesn't take that long for me. Funnily enough I have been thinking about the problem you are talking about, though I don't yet have it. It could be that uneven weight distribution is putting stresses on one side of your body. Thereby putting it out of alignment. Also. What I have been doing while I am on my back is stomach crunches to try and maintain some strength. Can't do many other exercises at the moment due to injury. Sorry, but I don't know anything about peptides. HTH
  10. Unfortunately, this is just as likely to result in a confrontation here in Thailand. It might be misconstrued as asking if there is something wrong with them.
  11. Better do something about the waste mountain in Koh Samui then.
  12. Day, Month, Year (smallest to largest) seems more logical than Month, Day, Year. But it's just their way of doing things.
  13. FOR SALE! Submarine. Nearly new. Never used, but needs engine. Will accept swap for boat, possibly fertiliser or other. Open to negotiation. But NDA required on final cost. Only serious offers please.
  14. Well Big Joke seems to have a thing about foreigners. Remember when he was with immigration before he upset someone? I see today that he is being mentioned as the possible new Police Chief. So hopefully not, but expect the worst.
  15. Not so much in restaurants, but definitely in HomePro. Pause to look at something and they are on you. Makes me feel like they think I am a shoplifter. Most of the staff seem to do it. I think it must be down to either staff training, or perhaps getting a commission or bonus for more sales. But they will only do it in their particular aisle(s). Move to the next one and someone else will take over. I just make a game of it. stop and look at something, and as soon as one gets close, I move on to the next aisle.
  16. Not in Pattaya, but I only have a photocopy of our building's Blue Book. It doesn't have my name in it, but I have always used it at Immigration to obtain resi certificates.
  17. What? Imagine all those jollies and junkets: Free trips abroad. Must be something deterring them.
  18. phetphet

    Very hot fridge.

Check the vents at the back haven't become clogged with fluff too. clearing them can improve airflow.
  19. I usually see Asst Prof. Niyom Tantikun at Bumrungrad for my skin checks. Prices can vary depending on how many lesions he freezes. last time was around THB6000 I think.
  20. Hmm. I wonder if he Health and Safety Committee will be along to investigate and find the cause of the accident and make recommendations to prevent a recurrence. RIP.
  21. Trying coffee shops and cafés near or around universities might increase your chances of meeting one. However. If it's just the white coat, mask and pipette that turn you on, I'm sure you will find many girls willing to cosplay and indulge you in your fantasies.
