  1. I run regularly, not huge distances, just 5k - but in the heat so I need to drink enough after a run to avoid dehydration. It's a subjective feeling, but I don't like drinking the common bottled waters as I think the absence of any minerals (due to the filtration treatment) make me feel unwell compared to drinking mineral water or sports drinks. I guess it's the need to replace electrolyte? But does this mean drinking pure water is not good for people living in hot countries even if you don't exercise in the heat?
  2. Yes ..... that was my thinking on going for a genuine Samsung repair with a guarantee .... in case it happens again. The special warranty by Samsung covers all Galaxy models up to the S25, so it looks like it's an ongoing risk.
  3. There's a few YouTube videos and lots of chat on Reddit and the Samsung group ..... apparently the update can cause overheating of the image signal processor. Samsung claim it's due to general overheating issues and is not related to their UI7 update, but the Samsung community is adamant it's the update. My issue appeared immediately after the update was installed.
  4. Late last month my Samsung Note 20 Ultra had a Samsung update, and immediately after the update I had the bright green vertical stripe up the centre of my screen. A quick Google showed me it was a common issue, often associated with recent Samsung updates, and there was no easy fix. I went to the Samsung shop and the guy explained that Samsung have a choice of schemes to resolve the issue: 1. Free screen replacement or 2. Buy the phone back in exchange for a new Galaxy Phone with a value of the old phone being based on a 20% reduction on the new cost. Seemed fair, but my phone was bought in Korea (where I used to work) so he suggested I phone Samsung Thailand to check if they will cover the costs. The lady at Samsung explained that only phones bought in Thailand were covered, but she offered to order a new screen and book the replacement service at my local Samsung shop. Cost would be 7,200 THB .... expensive, but the screen would be guaranteed for a couple of years. After checking the eye-watering costs of a new Samsung S25 Ultra (can a phone really cost more than a new Honda. Wave??), I decided to go for the screen replacement. I also like that my Note 20 Ultra was one of the last higher-end phones to have an SD card .... and mine has a 1TB SD card plus 512 Mb internal memory .... handy for my photo and video storage I guess I could have got it replaced cheaper at MBK, but then I'd be worried about future updates causing another green screen issue. But the good news is that if you have a Thai Note 20 or above or S series 21 or higher Galaxy phone with the green stripe issue, you can take advantage of the Samsung extended guarantee.
  5. Ah yes .... it's the mobile version of the site I was referring to. But the Blogs are not visible on laptop or mobile, although the system shows 7 Blogs have been entered. If the blog system has not been enabled, then it should be removed from the menu, as currently it appears to function when you write a blog, and you can even create headers and add images, but then the blogs cannot be viewed.
  6. Agree about the A55. Bought one for the Missus, added a 1TB SD card to save all her photos and videos (she does not like cloud storage). It's weatherproof, has good cameras, fast enough to not have any lag, good screen. Battery easily last a full day of heavy use. No wireless charging or fast charging though, but not a big deal breaker.
  7. Thank you ...... looks like the Blog does not work, but 7 people have tried to post blogs.
  8. There's the newly opened TopKart track in central Bangkok.... it looks like fun from the videos, but I've not tried it yet.
  9. I don't think that's the issue. I clicked the button to post, but I can't see any Blogs, not just mine. Does the Blog system work on the mobile App? The screen says No Blog Entries Yet, but lower down it shows 7 Blogs, but when I click no Blogs show up.
  10. I think I just wasted an hour writing a blog. I posted, but no blogs showing?
  11. Yep .... bank book, passport and details of payee. Takes about 10 minutes for it to be printed in the branch. They can make it for 'Payee only'. Also, if the planned purchase falls through for some reason, you can pay it back into your own account.
  12. My live-in housekeeper/Missus is a very pleasant 34-24-32 and she doesn't wear a bra when doing housework. What's that got to with robot vacuum cleaners you may ask? Well I found a spin-mop with a very short handle, so any automation would ruin my weekend view.
  13. The rumours at the time the General was going to stand down as PM was that Anutin was promised the PM position, but the plan hit a few obstacles that delayed his appointment. But they've managed to get the plan back on track. The infamous quote at the time was that democracy is not the best option for some countries, and that looks to be true.
  14. Well that's cleared the way for Anutin, as planned.
  15. Fitting solar powered, cellular CCTV
  16. Our cassava will not be due for harvest until the new year, so hopefully dry by then?
  17. I just completed this quiz. My Score 100/100 My Time 62 seconds
  18. Yes, but I was relocated by my employer to Thailand, so very different to finding a job here.
  19. So I'm genuinely curious, why are you here? I think Thailand is well above average .... my job has taken me to over 30 countries and I've lived for extended periods in 5 countries - and I'd rank Thailand as second best, after Vietnam. But if it's not for you, why stay?
  20. Land can be cheap here, but you need someone you trust 100% to buy it. We have a small farm, and it's a great place to detox from the city.
  21. Everywhere has negatives and positives, yes the heat can be a strain sometimes (most the time 😀) and Bangkok traffic is bad, but getting out of the city can give a break from the traffic and give some relief from the heat. And I just don't see Thai zebra crossings as anything more than a pattern on the road, they have no purpose here, so just ignore them. But I also try to see the positives every day. People making eye contact, even in Bangkok, most people are generally nice and friendly (if you smile), most issues can be fixed with money, and if not, they can be fixed with more money. Religion is generally harmless here, woke does not exist, politics is just business. My home country is self destructing, but I don't get too stressed about that as I'm far away. And I have a wonderful, beautiful woman, who's main aim in life (after eating 8 times a day) is looking after me.
  22. I heard from a contact at SMS that the price of cassava is expected to fall again .... so it will not be a financially sustainable crop if it does. We get a small subsidy to grow using regenerative farming, so we're less exposed to price fluctuations, but most local farmers seem to be suffering financially with mounting debt, especially with both rice and cassava prices falling. The irrigation system is to enable us to control the water supply in any dry periods so we can measure the impact of the intercrop without any impacts from dry spells. It's also so we can grow an off season rotational crop ..... in theory anyway.
  23. So if the UK stops the illegal entry of foreigners this could have a significant impact on the number of foreign criminals in the jails.
  24. I wish the immigrants into UK looked like that.
  25. Cheap LED conversions for older cars - the reflectors are not designed for the longer shape of some LED lightbulbs so the dip beam is too high and much brighter. When I converted my motorbike to LED I ordered replacement bulbs that had the LED's for main and dip in the same position as the filaments in the original H4 bulbs (dimensions and spec details listed when I ordered them). I then tested them on the dark road to confirm the dip was still down and to the correct side. But if you just stick any cheap LED's in your older lights they can be a serious hazard to other road users.
