  1. Well the order status has changed to "Refund Processing" looks like I will get my $$$ back ???? Next time I get an empty package or a shortage, it's direct to the chatbot time.
  2. I'm pretty sure this is not actually a real VW commercial, but ...
  3. Yup, something has gone awry! EDIT and now it's ok
  4. I see a 5A relay!! Without actually looking at the beast I couldn't comment on the switching delay. There's a worrying number of capacitors on that board, I wonder what they do.
  5. Still waiting for a response from Lazada Customer Services ???? Keep the comments coming, I need to smile ????
  6. All the devices you are looking at likely use the same 12V 7.5Ah sealed-lead acid battery. That would hold around 90Wh of energy if taken to zero charge (not good for it). So your 90W for 27 minutes would take it to about 50% charge asuming no additional losses. The UPS of course isn't going to be 100% efficient, probably nearer 90% wnhen on battery so it would drain the battery further in your 27 minutes. If you were to run the 480W UPS at full power the internal battery would last around 0.2 hours or 10 minutes which seems reasonable for a UPS intended for a PC, gives you time to save and shut down. Either solution would do your job, the power supply with internal battery is a bit more energy efficient and means fewer boxes.
  7. Probably not, I don't see a relay in the photo, it likely uses switching diodes for an instant change-over (it doesn't have to account for multiple supply voltages like those "universal" boards do).
  8. Yeah, just your passport and the fee (plus a small handling charge) they do everything for you even take your photo. Takes 10-30 minutes dependand upon just how busy they are.
  9. Yes, that's correct. When you come back make sure that the immigration officer stamps you to the correct date on your re-entry permit, even if it's just a few days.
  10. The diode is there to remove any possibility of the battery back-feeding the power supply (some PSUs don't like it). Without actually examining the circuit I couldn't comment on the "no diode" version. It will probably work just fine. More concerning is the long switch over delay these chaps seem to have and how your cameras etc. will react.
  11. Looking at this unit again, if that nice fat diode on the left is rated at 20A or more it would be OK. The 10A relay would have a reduced life at over 10A but it's not like you will be excercising it every day. At the price I'd just get one and try it out. If the diode does go fzzzt replace it with one of these https://www.lazada.co.th/products/10-20sq045-20a-45-pec-r-6-schottky-i370864879-s724052568.html
  12. That one is a 220V unit so won't work for your application ????
  13. That little module would do the switch over very nicely, but yes, it's limited to a 10A power supply due to the relay and probably the charging diode.
  14. Back in the early 80's I sent a small package from Corsham in Wiltshire to Faulkland near Bath in darkest Somerset. About 13 miles as the crow flies. A week later it hadn't arrived, oh well "lost in the post", it wasn't valuable. Some months later I got a call saying it had arrived, with postmarks from Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands!
  15. Yeah, I don't do COD due to someone not necessarily being home (they usually are), Madam can re-direct to the family restaurant if she's at the hospital.
  16. It was actually a set of taps (for threading holes) not really something that would be classed as "Valuable and Attractive". I wonder where on their journey from China the contents made their break for freedom.
  17. Had a small package delivered on Sunday, it was immediately obvious that the packaging was damaged and that the contents had escaped. Showed it to the delivery chap, he refused to accept me refusing the package (non-COD) and said I had to go via Lazada. OK, I've had no previous issues with returning stuff. So, off to the Lazada site, no apparent option for "empty box" so I ticked "packaging damaged", included a bunch of photos and got the return stuff via Kerry. Included the photos in the return package too, but of course Lazada rejected my return! And they wanted to return the returned package to me OK. So time to get on the "live" online chat, I really wasn't in the mood to do battle with a phone call. Chat conversation was actually OK although I got the distinct impression that I was talking to a machine, either that or a human choosing potted responses. Of course the fact that "h5-alimebot.lazada.co.th" asked to be allowed notifications was a bit of a giveaway. Anyway, after uploading the photos again the response was "we will pass to the relevant team and get back to you". We shall see. It's not the principle it's the money!
  18. Acrylic is pretty good on most surfaces yes ????
  19. I'm not a great lover of flexy, but should be just fine ????
  20. In these kind of units there's usually little to no protection for the battery, it's not intended to go deep discharge regularly so there's no serious degradation of the battery it just runs until the cameras stop on low voltage. Unlike something like a bait-boat which regularly runs down the pack and should have suitable discharge protection.
  21. If the unit you have found is already "battery-ready" then you should be able to drop in a LiFePO4 directly. Assuming it uses the "normal" 150x94x65mm form-factor there are many suitable units on Lazada such as https://www.lazada.co.th/products/lifepo4-12v-10ah-ups-i356742471-s698842447.html
  22. That one should do the trick for 8 cameras plus the XVR and already has a battery pack which should be good for 30-45 minutes. When the lead-acid battery fails there are drop-in LiFePO4 versions in the same form factor.
