  1. I have taken Ramipril since I was 48, now nearly 80. Was on 5mg in UK but it was initiallynreduced here to 2,5 mg. I buy Tritace from the local chemist .. cost is 1050 Baht for 100 tablets of 2.5 mg. And I now only take half a tablet a day. The chemist is near The Ngam Wong Wan Mall …in Nonthaburi
  2. Absolutely ... We have the MXS 5.0 ...five or six years old now and still going strong. Bought direct from CTEK but as above you could probably save a little by buying from Lazada. You might find the XS 0.8 too small as it meant for motorbike batteries, and it will take a long time, if at all, to charge a car battery. AS mentioned above your battery should not drop any voltage in a week. If you have a decent multimeter you could check the parasitic draw. If you don't know how ...google.
  3. If you have first class insurance you should let the accessor appointed by your insurance company deal. Doesn’t your policy say cover up to 200,000baht medical expenses per person injured. Look in the right hand column of your policy. I don’t understand why you gave any money. Let your insurance company deal. If his medical bill was above 200K then guess bad luck for you.
  4. We buy from a guy who imports from the USA,,. He supplies a reasonable range… if anyone wants his contact details you can pm me..
  5. Unfortunately I think I’ll be there even sooner …you cannot stop old age, but lifestyle can slow it down……I’m trying to…lol
  6. MapMyRide I think .. I use it for walking
  7. I think that she has been spending some of that money on food …..
  8. Ouch … No, knew how much it would cost, two meals + service charge and VAT. But as I said that type of meal leaves a greasy aftertaste. They can charge those prices as its quite nice, near Muang Thong Thani … where well off Thais and affluent ex-pats who have their rental paid by their company etc live … and of course close to where we live. Probably have been there five times since it opened. Twice for breakfast, once for lunch and twice to take friends. It is actually a nice place. Sometimes they have live music, but not at breakfast time. Yeah … you are correct, it was extravagant but at my time of life who really cares if we spend more for breakfast than if we went to ‘the local chippie’… so to speak. MrsJ likes it there so fine by me and the outlook is quite pleasant, a little lake with fountains… YMMY
  9. We have just been to Brooks Brunch and Bar for breakfast ..open 8:30am to midnight and a very popular place. Haven't been there for months but just fancied someone else to cook breakfast. No coffee or whatever, 842thb. Yes, it tasted nice whilst eating but afterwards just had a sort of greasy aftertaste in my mouth and a full feeling. Probably because we don't eat that sort of meal as generally stick to Thai type food.
  10. My wife also has UK and Thai passports ...we left the UK in 2007 having previously lived together there for five years. Living just outside Bangkok have never had any problems. You will come across corruption but should be able to avoid it. I hear brown envelopes are handy but have never had to use them myself ... Ah I lie, just once at immigration and it halved my forgotten 90Day report fine. You might want to live in a gated village, the one we live in haven't had any reported thefts for years now. WE have never been back to the UK since we left ...........
  11. That's a very searching question ... you must of searched hard to find it. More and more posts on this site seem to be by newly appointed complete dick heads. Not that I'm inferring you are one of course. ....
  12. Keep them indoors and fit them with ear defenders for the night ... that would be the kind thing to do.
  13. Do you mean you take it undiluted? Recommended way is in a glass of water.. and yes, I also take it if I’m gonna have a high carbohydrate .
  14. Well, we live on the border of BKK and Nonthaburi ... just now AQI/2,5ppm is 174/92. Have been looking around to find s0omewhere to go to to get away from this but it looks like similar condition over the whole country ...info from Air Visual App. Wonder how much difference the weeks free public transport will make ... probably sfa.
  15. Duff info ...sorry ... at both Government Hospitals that I am familiar with it's a No No ...Always have to see a doctor first and they have a big queue.
  16. Yes you can. Go to the hospital and register. Then go and make an appointment to see a general doctor and tell him your problem. If he agrees he will order blood tests. You will not be able to get the results until you see him again. You cannot just walk into a government hospital and ask for blood test. You can do that at a clinic though.
  17. My wife and I have used Princess Chulabhorn Hospital for many years... handy as we live quite near. Last July she had a look up and a look down. I've just checked and it was 8520 Baht. It was done in normal time ...not extra clinic. In the past I have also had the same done. Every five years I have the look up and usually ask for look down at the same time and I recall that the price was somewhat similar. To use you need to register. Then see a general doctor, that is walk in so you may be 2-3m hours. He will then send you to the appropriate clinic to arrange to see a specialist. Then you will have a choice, Normal Clinic or Extra Clinic. Normal clinic is about 100Baht and Extra Clinic is about 500Baht. There will be a waiting list for both but Extra Clinic is usually very quick to see the doctor. He will then tell you the waiting times for Normal and Exter Clinic and the prices if no polyps etc to test. The price I mentioned is ... for you to know nothing about it. You are in and out the same day ...only a few hours in total.
  18. That would probably improve the condition of the water …
  19. I gifted money from the UK to MrsJ … She records on a spread sheet exactly what she spends it on … I now make her pay from that account for everything she consumes …her share of food, her golf, her cloths, her car insurance, presents she buys etc. etc It’s amazing how low my credit card bill is now. In fact if they want me to pay an annual fee next year I’ll cancel it. And she can prove her spending as it’s noted on her banking App.
  20. We live just 100M from Bangkok … walked into the bathroom early morning … window was open and it was cooler than our bedroom which had air con on …no air con tonight then…
  21. BarBoy in answer to your question NO My thai is rubbish and anyway I am on a Retirement Visa. Suppose that I regret not making more effort to learn. I did start when we lived in the UK. MrsJ when not playing golf or gardening taught local Thai children to read and write Thai. I got as far as ตามารถไฟ ta ma rod fai …lol … if you don’t understand why that is amusing ask your wife or GF.
  22. Well I never got my reminder e-mail in October …. Only realised the day before yesterday. Went to Immigration yesterday and handed in my application and was expecting a fine. IO came out and handed back my passport and 90Day slip … he was grinning and said something I didn’t quite catch. I didn’t ask him to repeat it, just said thank you and left. I did think all the staff looked much more happy and helpful than previous ..probably a change of the chief IO.
