  1. Could you not insist that she applies for a license first?
  2. You must bear in mind that on this forum we only here about Thai/Farang marriages that break down and turn volatile. However, we never hear about "were did it all go right marriages" which statistically far outweigh those that go pear shaped.
  3. Never honk your horn at a Thai. They are never, ever in the wrong, even when they are... The family was lucky they didn't have a gun.
  4. I recently received a new British passport and no letter from the embassy was required to transfer my extension of stay stamps to the new passport. At immigration there is just a form to fill in and all the usual photocopies of both passports. I picked up my new passport from the VFS office in Chiang Mai early afternoon, then went straight to immigration and waited about half an hour for them to complete the process.
  5. For good recommendations you need to tell us exactly what you're planning to use the machine for. So, what exactly do you plan to chop with it? Also, how finely do you wish to chop your vegetables? For example, you mention ginger. so do you want to grind it to a puree or just chop it into a small dice? You see blenders aren't really meant to chop vegetables. They purpose is to blend smoothies or homemade soup etc. Things that have a certain amount of liquid within them. The blades aren't really big or strong enough to chop vegetables. Perhaps a food processor or a decent quality mini chopper might be more what you are looking for? A good food processor can chop and slice vegetables in more ways than you can think of! But they're not cheap.
  6. Yes, there's a great big dial fitted to the dashboard of every production car that tells you how fast you are going. But like every red light, road sign or traffic law, it's only purpose in Thailand is to be ignored.
  7. Unlikely. He's way too young and nowhere near grumpy enough! And he was clearly under the impression that he could have any woman he wanted. He's probably still washing the egg off his face.
  8. It looks better than the "frog's spawn" tapioca pudding that I had to endure back in the day.
  9. My guess would be bug traps. The edible sort of bugs that is. The bases are filled with water which collect the insects. The lights on the poles are possible going to have a blue glow which, at night time the bugs can't resist.
  10. Why do you feel the need to "get away with it"? If you're not prepared to pay the fine, don't do the crime!
  11. I would say lack of interest more than anything. The Thailand bubble doesn't extend very far beyond it's borders from my experience.
  12. Flick knife? You need to get one that will accommodate at least a machete, if not a smaurai sword!
  13. I've got several. I favor the 100 baht, army green or khaki canvas sort. Expensive leather ones just advertise your wealth. They make you an easy target.
  14. When the local vicar has been on the communion wine is when you need to worry!
  15. Not even a really bad singers who should be banned from inflicting misery on other people for life?
  16. Why? Some items are only available to buy if you order from Chinese sellers. Like with everything, a little bit of common sense goes along way.
  17. When it comes road to safety, nobody cares about people riding in the back of pickups so why do they believe anyone is going to care about someone sitting on a plastic chair in a mini van?
  18. Yes. My wife is 3 years older than me and you've no idea the amount of ridicule she has to put up with...
  19. Sorry, I'm confused. What does owning socks have to do with anything relating to this topic? Are ladies of the night not allowed, under Thai law to get cold feet?
  20. How many dirty towels? It could be your exceeded the weight limit of the machine and the washing load wasn't balanced correctly. Alternatively you could pay someone to sit on it. Apparently some girls quite enjoy the experience....
  21. An entire village, so maybe 300 by name at a rough estimate. How about you?
