    Up in CM hotels are empty, but the backpacker dorms seem to be doing well. Most of the long term expats seem to have gone though, no idea why.

    Why do you quote the more expensive automatic model? A Celerio manual is a great little 4 door, I'm seeing them everywhere, not surprising at 320kbht..

    When I moved to CM in 2009 I was renting a condo, 6000bht/month. Same condo is still 6000bht/month in 2023. Not sure rental inflation is happening. During that same time my pound dropped from 50bht to 45bht (-10%) But my pension income nearly doubled (+80%). I'm quids in because of inflation.

    You need your Google play account set to UK. Natwest bank app works perfectly, I use it several times a week. But activating the app for the first time is more of a problem, you'll probably need a Skype account or UK SIM.

    Don't give a flying one what Agoda says, I've been there, you haven't. Accommodation that costs 500bht in Thailand, costs 800-1,000bht in Vietnam/Cambodia/Philippines/China. Thailand has the cheapest hotels/guesthouses in SEA, and I've been all over.

    Been in the same Moobaan 3 bed house for the past 10 years from new. Snag list, incoming wires from meter reversed, septic tank lid not screwed down. No other real problems, wire to the gate light failed, incoming water pipe joint broke under the kitchen patio, few tiles off in a really bad storm, kitchen sink waste pipe blocked and had to dig it out ...... that's about it, completely happy with the house.

    I find it as much fun as it was in 2009 when I first arrived. Not much in the way of price rises, bars close a bit earlier. Anything could happen next year, but usually their silly ideas come to nothing, same as always.

    Pal of mine, last night no debit card, had Thai address. This morning changed address to UK, immediate debit card.

    Car already identified as Range Rover Hybrid ............. The government are trying to hide the danger from EVs from the general population. But the UK insurance companies have already been raising prices/not renewing EV insurance. Guess this will be the end of EVs in the UK as no insurance co. wants a 20M bill for a fire in a car park.

    Not sure what Israel has to do with this story. But last time I was there nearly all Israeli men carried a rifle 24/7. Remember some parties on the beach, evenings round a camp fire, wigwams of rifles stacked beside us.
