I've never been that keen on wine, they all tasted like vinegar to me. Obviously that can be changed by adding a spoon or two of sugar. But I'm OK just drinking wine coolers at 26bht/bottle. -

I always had big houses and big gardens back in the UK. But the sad reality is I'm just too old to bother with the upkeep these days. Condo with swimming pool and nice gardens would be fine for me now.

Agree, So many people want to control us, but why? No smoking, no drinking, no sex, no sugar, no ICE, you gotta have smart electricity that the government can turn off. -

I drink at least 1ltr of pepsi a day, chocolate, supermarket bread, bacon, mash, chips, burgers .......... and my weight never increases. If anything I have a weight loss problem. Cycle 50Km a week if it's not raining. -
If they wanted men that respected their culture they should have married a Thai man IMHO. As for Thai culture, I find it hard to respect greed and corruption, maybe it's OK with you. I have no idea what would trigger the sudden change, which is why I asked.

Oddly enough I've also heard stories (from western men) of Thai ladies that are no problem in the west, then returning with western husband and becoming total nightmares. Wonder what caused the behaviour changes? PS. My Brit wife (I was faithful to her for 30 years) suddenly turned on me, so it's not only Thai women. Being faithful and loyal was a total waste of time for me.

Met 2 serious drug dealers and a gang of bank robbers when I first came to CM (all Brits). They didn't appear to be committing any crimes in Thailand, so what does it matter what their occupations were back in the UK.

At 72 I don't think the op has much future to worry about. -
Was in CM Friday evening and less than 1/4 of the normal western tourists. Bars and restaurants closing before 10pm, looks like a financial meltdown for the Thai businesses. Hardly anyone in Dash, the upper floor closed all evening, they shut around 9:30pm.
