  1. Western food isn't any more expensive if you cook from basic ingredients. I hardly ever eat Thai food, just don't like the taste. Price rises ......... M&Ms, now 26bht a packet in BigC/7-11 ......... 21bht/packet in Makro, but you have to buy 6.
  2. 60 day extension to visit wife. Available once after every entry to Thailand, 1900bht, no other money required. Good luck with your marriage and your illness!
  3. You should have got out more when you were younger!
  4. 26 year old man living with 43 year old woman .............. Something suggests to me he was after the 14yo daughter right from the get go.
  5. There is no excuse for violence towards another human being (man or woman). If you don't like what someone else is doing, walk away ........... end of!
  6. Guy assaulted by wife and you blame him ........... Nobody is forcing her to stay with him, if she doesn't like him drinking she should leave, not stab him.
  7. No way to measure the OP from the inverter ..... only a naff graph, so I've just added a power meter. 7 panels isn't giving me enough to ensure a fully charged battery, so I've another one coming.
  8. Haier are a lot cheaper through Lazada from the Haier official store. I bought mine there and paid a local guy to fit it. It replaced a Samsung AC that lasted less than 6 years. Avoid Samsung, everything they have made recently is extremely unreliable.
  9. I'm not on the electoral register ....... it hasn't made any difference.
  10. 100 Typhoo tea bags 96bht. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/typhoo-one-cup-100-tea-bags-200g-100-200-i2328240354-s7872573300.html
  11. I did put lettuce (stolen from my rabbits) in my tuna sandwich yesterday.
  12. I've got a cupboard full of Typhoo tea bags .... 100bht a box on Lazada. 200bht a box for inferior Liptons in the supermarket. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/typhoo-one-cup-tea-bags-100s-i2324482735-s7857115377.html Bell peppers, 10bht for 4 large in my local market. Fresh ginger, 10bht for 1/2Kg in my local market. Try pricing those in Tesco/Rimping/Tops?
  13. I just use all purpose flour ....... really I can't tell the difference in taste.
  14. Supermarkets in the UK are bargain shopping. Supermarkets in Thailand are luxury shopping. Many foreigners never discover the difference. But most supermarket items are half the price online or in local markets.
  15. All mine are cooked in the air fryer .......... only healthy chips for us 555!
  16. Would need to disagree, I can make many items sold at 35bht for 10bht. Cakes, biscuits, bread, pancakes, tortillas, curry, toffee all being much cheaper to bake myself.
  17. Check out Lazada for your cereal, imported items are often much cheaper than Thai supermarkets.
  18. Cheap as chips still relevant. I buy my chips frozen from Makro, the price varies 99bht/2Kg-135bht/2Kg. Same product & manufacturer, huge price swings, been like this the past 7 years. When it's 99bht/2Kg, I fill up the freezer, when it's 135bht/2Kg I wait ............ Me and my boy eat chips nearly every day!
  19. Turn a light on when your grid power is out. If it comes on, you ain't protected.
  20. Make sure you have a government 'gateway' account with your brothers address. Then they will send your invitation there.
  21. Don't think too much! The number of my pals 'just working one more year' to make sure they had enough then died without ever having more than their yearly holidays is astounding.
  22. Why worry about the future? It may all end in nuclear war tomorrow.
  23. Don't tell them you've ever been outside the UK. Claim online using a VPN and your invitation code. Use a UK bank account (they don't ask your address). Takes about 5 mins to answer all the questions, don't answer any of them in a way that 'creates difficulties'. I was worried they would pay me 6 months late after reading stories on here. But apparently that delay is only for people daft enough to admit to living overseas. I was paid on exactly the date I was supposed to be paid.
  24. Not entirely sure what you expect someone in their mid 60s+ to do? I just sit around drinking/reading/listening to music/watching TV/posting on forums and doing nothing much while waiting to die, it's a fine occupation. Maybe you think I should be finding a cure for cancer?
