Why Chinese electric cars are causing a buzz in Thailand
tonray replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm waiting for the helium car...floating above traffic jams on Kanchanpisek Road...and laughing in a silly high voice at the same time -

SURVEY: What effect will the Omicron variant have on Thailand?
tonray replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
In some virus variants, increased transmissability may also come with less severe mortality rates as the virus mutates to propagate rather than kill off it's hosts. Always possible, the variant may infect a lot more people, taking over the lion's share of infections and pushing Delta out of the way...in effect becoming a new "Covid" common cold. -
LGBTQ+ groups and supporters rally in Bangkok to demand equal rights
tonray replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
You get equal rights to the Wat Crematorium when the time comes....as long as you pay your fee -
Well before new tourists arrivals there have been a cadre of "rebels" wearing the mask pulled down over their nose. I avoid them myself...not because I'm worried about infection...only because they act like adolelscents who can't behave in a society in which they are guests.

wise transfer to kbank

If your immigration acct is Bangkok Bank then the transfer will likely show as domestic and not foreign. You must request credit advise report from Bank to prove it came from overseas. -

Can O-A Visa Omicron insurance be far off ? -
3000 to 5000 baht espresson machine will likely be OK for most but be careful about quality vs junk. Perfectly reasonable for an average cup if you are not a snob...but I would question the quality of the machine at that price. I looked at these a few years ago and it seemed to get anything half decent , the prices started at about 5000+ and went upwards of 15,000 for a decent machine. Stick with a good brand like Delonghi, Gaggia or Breville and you'll be happier in the long run.

OA Visa 800k Transfer query
tonray replied to TimF's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Cannot use affidavit letter for money in the bank method -
The empty malls you mentioned are all tourist targeted malls. Go to local malls like The Mall Bang Khae, The Mall Bang Kapi, Central Lad Phrao etc and you'll find little difference between two years ago and now.

unbelieveable goings on in the US !
tonray replied to CharlieH's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Not only that....many high end retailers are experiencing "smash and Grab" attacks by gangs of thieves over the past few months. They roll in with 5 or 10 people , clear out high end handbags/shoes/whatever and leave. Not much you can do and the police seem to arrive 5 minutes late every time. It's going to mean the end of brick and mortar retailers eventually....can't violate their civil rights by stopping them either or you'll end up in court being sued for assault. Glad to be here....
