  1. Trying to do something using the "common sense' method ( meaning, what seems obvious to us) is a foolproof method of how to run into potential problems . The other party.... especially when they have control over who decides if it makes sense...... often staggers us with the answer " no, can not do. OR...... this is the rule. " Certainly when doing something which could lead to "misunderstandings or interpretations" , especially with Immigration which is well known for being one of the main subjects of horrible consequences , i for one would not try to slice and dice and move money in parts , etc etc. As Worgeorgie sensibly did..... I would open a separate account with the full amount 800k well in advance of my renewal. AND, keep any book and records of the account you used previously. DO not leave any gaps (even a day !) Do i sound crazy or overly paranoid ? Up to you
  2. Mine too ........... We'll meet up and see who is the best survivor! I'll do the video ........
  3. the visitors AND most of those expats living here just NEVER seem to understand this simple truth.
  4. good info and opinion. I am curious as to why you say " I can see their reasoning" ....... for the lifetime recommendation. I called a Toyota mechanic (thai) that i know and he said 60 K would be good. A friend that bought a 2019 model told me they said lifetime . He has 100 k km on his odometer. I think i will go with the 30 k suggestion ...... can't hurt unless they forget to put the plug back in ????
  5. thanks ...... that website sure worked ! i remember when we had to get up a midnight to book an appointment a month in advance. or go at 5 am to promenade. so basically so many people are not here anymore... or coming.... that getting immigration services are easy once again
  6. how do you make an appointment? online or in person? thanks in advance
  7. So many guys ask me "Rumak, how do you do it ? You seem to have done pretty well here" Look , after i did my"initiations" I finally just bought me the buffalo. Then i would take in lovely ladies that promised to take care of it. If the buffalo gets sick .... I get a new caretaker . ????
  8. that's what i wanted to hear . So, NO APPOINTMENT ? you just walked in before 10 and got a number ? Sounds like the good old days.....
  9. The manual does not specify EXACT recommendation to change the transmission oil ; Does anyone have that information ,,,,,, or opinion ?
  10. Has anyone gone to immigration to extend their ONE YEAR permission recently ? I use the money in the bank method so never had a problem as far as that . Just want to know if any "new" requirements being asked for now . Also, are they just accepting walk ins or do we need to make an appointment. Thanks ( THIS IS FOR EXTENSION based on RETIREMENT )
  11. i agree with you .... and was using it in a satirical manner. now, please ask the PEOPLE on this forum to stop using the disrespectful term anti vaxxer to try to put down those who have reason not to agree with them
  12. Maybe this will help : https://www.tatnews.org/2022/04/thailand-lifts-rt-pcr-testing-requirement-for-international-arrivals-from-1-may-2022/
  13. I wonder what percentage of sheep will ever admit that they followed the shepherd blindly ...... but are now wondering if they were led astray
  14. The losses to women happens everywhere . But damn, thai ladies are soooo good at it .
  15. posting our opinions on forums , especially non mainstream ones, always raise the ire of many in the group. Different opinions are taken personally . Ahhh, just another day passing time .......
  16. the more people i meet, the more i love my dog. "Spot ! Is my breakfast ready yet ? "
  17. Yep . Up to them to do what they want. i have been "realistic' and thus been able to move on when things were no longer what i wanted.
  18. just saw that. on topic i would agree that there is NOTHING wrong with filial piety . had to look it up though !! Having a good family around and respecting each other is a great thing. To go off topic a bit : I do not believe that it is often that simple........ as so many families have problems and are not harmonious. But if you find a family.... or just one person that is sincere... it is a good thing
  19. Not just thailand, but everywhere . Even those who had a good relationship very often "grow apart". Lots of reasons why . Money and boredom probably top the list . I would guess 10 % of relationships are built on respect and a feeling of being happy to wake up and see the person you are with. In the past when i felt that was not the case i would move on. So that is MY reason for not putting too much money into 'living arrangements'. Many many guys DO lose a lot.... or hang on because they thought it would be forever.
  20. i think that just about sums it up . short and to the point
