I don't see the connection? I find it slightly annoying having to take off my shoes before entering a house, but I do it as it's the culture here and I respect that. To wear, or not wear, a mask is not a cultural decision.
Other countries are requiring negative Covid tests for people coming from China. I've not heard of any other country which requires only proof of vaccination. Thailand is out on a limb here.
The absence of an Embassy letter might be an issue for the OP as his new passport will be mailed to Thailand and will therefore have no entry stamp. People who live in Thailand but renew their passport while back in the UK, don't need the Embassy letter as their new passport will be stamped by airport immigration on arrival in Thailand. They will still need to get Extensions transferred, but the letter is not required.
My son goes to a bi-lingual school in Ban Chang too. Masks are no longer compulsory, even in the classroom, although most kids seem to prefer wearing them.
Good post. Of course it's dangerous, but some of us have to drive our kids to and from school every day. Paying constant attention to other road users including pedestrians, is key. And not being over-cautious.
Didn't we go through all this in 2020/2021? It was ineffective then and will be ineffective now. How long before mask mandates, school closures and lockdowns are back on the agenda?
I seem to get similar symptoms around this time of year - seasonal bronchitis according to one doctor. We moved out of Bangkok 10 months ago, and I was hoping it would be better here in Rayong. But it isn't.
You can hardly blame the Thai tourist industry for wanting to get back on its feet again. Chinese tourists are essential for this. Covid will spread, and is already being spread, and will continue to spread. "Zero Covid" has already been shown to be unworkable. There's really no excuse for people in Thailand not to be fully vaccinated.
