  1. I think you're confusing me with someone else. I don't have a business here, just a teaching job and a family.
  2. Well, the comment I was replying to was very simple. But your more detailed comment is interesting. Is the fact that cases (and deaths?) in Vietnam are still rising despite the severe lockdown, attributable to the new strain or the ineffectiveness of the lockdown?
  3. Well, it's a global pandemic! Are there any countries that haven't seen a rise in numbers at some stage?
  4. I can't help the OP, as I married my Lao GF in the UK in 2016. I had always assumed that marrying in Laos would be impossible, or too expensive, as we already had a kid together. We met and still live in Thailand, and only visit Laos for family, although we now have a house there. Hopefully the OP will get more advice!
  5. Very true; it's encouraging that alternatives are being voiced. Some lockdown fetishists seem to think the lockdown should be forever! Thailand isn't Australia.
  6. All our teachers have had two doses of Sinopharm.
  7. Just register the journey. But there don't seem to be any checkpoints anyway.
  8. Didn't we go through this yesterday, without resolution? My guess it's people who have been discharged from hospital. Not really sure how else it can be measured.
  9. That might put off opening the schools for a bit...
  10. I could be wrong, but I think the headline here is written by Aseannow Admin? I agree about government spin though. I guess 'The Thick Of It' isn't shown in Thailand!
  11. I believe it's supposed to be "quarantine at home", but I guess self-isolate is much the same.
  12. Absolutely. I was just saying it is "nice" to see a positive spin put on the situation. I'm sure it will go back to the more normal headline tomorrow. Unless........
  13. I would have thought she could quarantine at the home of her husband.
  14. Similar rate of infections and deaths. Obviously not vaccinations, as I thought I'd made clear by writing that Thailand was nowhere near achieving anything like full vaccination, unlike the UK, and probably never will..
  15. She would just have to quarantine on arrival like everyone else.
  16. Thanks. Obviously what you have written makes sense. But it doesn't answer my question: when will it (the current lockdown) end? I'm not suggesting opening up the country fully to tourists and fully opening up the nightlife, but allowing day to day life for most people to get back to normal. Macrohistory suggests "many months to come" - but how many? What do you consider to be an acceptable level of infections and deaths per day to be? After all, the UK has opened up and still has a similar rate to Thailand. Waiting for Thailand to be fully vaccinated will mean waiting years and could never happen anyway.
  17. I thought the lockdown that's been in effect since April was supposed to be controlling it! When will it end? I know it's not popular with the regular posters on this thread, but Sweden's different approach, while obviously not perfect, seems more sensible to me.
