  1. Indeed, it's sad to see how many kids seem to prefer to be masked up, even when no longer obliged to be. Well done to your kid ????
  2. I've used PulseTV for years and it's been mostly fine. For some reason the last couple of days have had constant buffering, which I've never had before. Any other users experiencing this?
  3. Prime example of what? Do you have a link to their website and is it relevant to buying their pies in Thailand?
  4. Masks will be around for a while, but their use is declining by the day. Even my son's school has finally relented and no longer insists that kids need to be masked up in class. Not before time!
  5. But are they the same quality? I'm more than happy to pay a premium for decent important western processed meals. Long live the Expat Stores - couldn't do without them! And now we have Greggs too!
  6. I requested a forecast a few years ago. I'll get my pension in 2027. I requested another forecast last week and the amount was almost the same as previously forecast. Does the forecast take into account projected RPI/Earnings increases?
  7. Det 5 is a good place to eat and drink.
  8. Is it still a pandemic if it's just a mild illness for most people? When does it just become another viral infection that is part of everyday life?
  9. Are Wednesdays still 'no chairs/umbrellas on the beach' days?
  10. Correct. That's why Starmer (shamefully, in my opinion) has even ruled out rejoining the single market and customs union if Labour win. I suspect (hope) that will change pretty soon after they're elected!
  11. I think that would be sensible, although your retirement extension will help. Living together in Thailand for 6 months and with you having an extension of stay, is a much bigger 'plus' than guys with 'long distance' relationships. Some of the Forum's experts on this subject should be posting soon, and will have helpful advice.
  12. If Rishi upsets his crazy Brexit wing, he might be next to go! In any case, despite his mediocrity and lack of charisma, having Starmer as PM can only be an improvement.
  13. If she's going to the UK for a holiday you, as her sponsor, just have to demonstrate that you can pay for her trip and accommodate her in the UK. More problematic will be showing that she has a genuine reason to return to Thailand after the holiday, as she doesn't have a job. Do you have a life together in Thailand? If you can show that you live together in Thailand and are just having a holiday in the UK it would help. Do you have a work permit/retirement extension for Thailand? There are plenty of agents available (including a sponsor of this Forum) but without a good reason for her to return to Thailand, I'm not sure that they can do much.
  14. Exactly. There's loads of free parking in mall multi-storey car parks.
  15. If you can teach higher level students (IELTS, IGCSE exam prep) there are plenty prepared to pay 1,000 baht an hour for online tuition.
  16. It's all moot anyway. Masks are not mandatory here. Wear one if you like, but don't insist that others do. Not quite sure why it's such a big deal!
  17. Why is your marital status relevant?
  18. But there's no requirement to wear a mask "to protect others", so obviously the medical consensus here and in most countries of the world is that it's not something that actually does "protect others". getting vaccinated and boosted is obviously sensible to protect yourself.
  19. My son's school finally lifted the face-mask in class requirements last week!
  20. Depends what you're drinking and who you're drinking with!
  21. When you collect the new passport.
  22. Your last point is definitely a possibility, and no bad thing if it's replaced by a closer democratic union of European nations, with the UK playing a full part.
  23. Indeed. It may take a few years or even decades, but the next generation will insist we re-join and this time it will mean accepting the euro too.
  24. You don't send off your expiring/full passport if you're renewing in Thailand. You retain it and bring to VFS to be 'cancelled' when you collect your new one.
  25. Yes, it's quite ridiculous.
