  1. She was just lowering herself to Tate's level...????
  2. Same as in Bangkok (Bang Chak) although there's no requirement for a medical certificate if renewing a 5-year licence (or there wasn't last time I did it).
  3. She's a global superstar for the world's youth. Her takedown of Andrew Tate on Twitter was a joy! More power to her. ????
  4. I don't think anyone expects private medical to be cheap - anywhere!
  5. No idea as we live in Thailand. We have a house in Laos and pre-Covid it was fine for us to stay there for a week or so, but currently we have no plans to live there. I have a feeling it will be difficult and costly to get the marriage recognised in Laos, but until we need to do it I'll hold off. Hopefully, it will be easier to do in the future. Our son (born in Thailand) has to get a Lao visa, despite having a Lao mother, as he only has a UK passport.
  6. Marrying a Lao girl in Thailand is certainly not easy and marrying in Laos is tricky, if, like me, you already have a child. We married in the UK as it was much less complicated!
  7. True. Illegal prostitution means streetwalking or soliciting. Most girls working in bars and gogos are working legally. If they go with a customer to their home or hotel, that's their business and not illegal.
  8. I don't understand the question. What sort of reaction are you expecting? Why would groups of Chinese cause a "stir"? ????
  9. I haven't lived in the UK since 2005, but my accounts are still open and I use them to transfer money to Thailand, for my Premium Bond winnings and pension. I also have a UK credit card which I pay off (online) from my UK account. As long as your account is active, it doesn't matter where you live (as long as there's a UK address for the account).
  10. I would think it's the one next to BTS Bang Chak https://www.dlt.go.th/site/skp3/
  11. I hope this thread doesn't get bogged down in people praising HMPO for their fast and efficient service...????
  12. I think there's some confusion. Unless the policy has changed again (quite possible!), insurance is only required for people who will be leaving Thailand for a country that requires a negative Covid result before checking in (e.g. China and India). This is to ensure that the person testing positive and who is now stuck in Thailand, has cover.
  13. The sponsor just needs to show that they can financially support the applicant's trip, assuming the applicant is not paying for it themself, and provide accommodation, if the applicant is staying with the sponsor. They'll also need to show that they know the applicant and in what capacity.
  14. But no one wears proper N95 masks in Thailand - I doubt they can afford them! The cheap flimsy "surgical" masks that most wear are not much defence against viruses.
  15. A little bit of a generalisation there! Looking at someone the "wrong way" in a provincial English town on a Saturday night is not advised either! Didn't you know? Thailand is the Land of Smiles! ????
  16. All's well that ends well! Apart from those who were refused boarding yesterday or who cancelled their holidays!
  17. Very true. Although it might have been the banging on the car, rather than just sounding the horn, that triggered the red mist.
  18. So really just a lot of fuss about nothing! Carry on...
  19. She wasn't denied entry. Her choice whether to pay for quarantine or stay in a free SHA hotel. There was a pandemic.
  20. Only for those whose next destination requires a negative Covid test, right? Not really "breaking"!
  21. Agreed. The most ridiculous aspect of this decision is applying it to everyone rather than just focusing on people travelling out of China. And why the focus on vaccinations? Far better would be to insist on a negative Covid test, like most other countries are doing.
  22. India is one. I've not heard of any others, yet. Most countries only require people coming from China to be tested.
  23. They can't refuse entry to their own citizens!
