  1. Isn't it obvious that Trump features heavily in the unreleased Epstein files, so there's no chance they will be released!
  2. No. That's why I need to buy a re-entry permit. Will they issue one for a new passport or put it in the old, cancelled one?
  3. Shocking video. Almost looks like the helicopter deliberately flew into the passenger jet.
  4. I was referring to legal immigrants, not asylum seekers.
  5. Really? The rules are very strict about legal immigrants claiming benefits.
  6. Hopefully Labour will do away with the Tories' policy of increasing the salary level for Settlement visas - or will Starmer kow-tow to the prevailing anti-immigrant mood (Reform!) and go ahead with it?
  7. It might not be "necessary", but processed food is convenient and tasty! I wish we could buy M&S ready-meals here.
  8. Correct. There are no elections in Bangkok.
  9. Fingers crossed that it actually happens. 🤞
  10. I had thought of that, but will Immigration be OK with putting his Re-entry permit in a brand new, unused passport. Presumably they won't put one in his cancelled passport? Although we use CW for our Extensions, I've been able to get Re-entry permits in Rayong, and obviously we could get them at the airport as well.
  11. I'd say it's very unlikely he'll go to prison at all, unless they find he was under the influence of something. More likely that an 'appropriate' amount of compensation to the victims' families will be agreed, and case closed.
  12. The longer I live here (nearly 20 years) the more western food I eat. Most weeks I'll cook a roast dinner, pasta dish, fish or steak, and a curry. There are loads of choices for eating out too - pizzas, burgers, steaks, fish n chips, Sunday roast and the good old English breakfast.
  13. Anyone used Green Motion or Drivalia car rental??
  14. Yes, we live in Rayong and that's where our TM30s are for and where we do the 90-day reporting. But my employer is based in Bangkok so we have to go to CW every year for the Extensions. I had assumed a transfer to a new passport will also have to be done at CW, but it would be great if I didn't have to take my son out of school to do it! Hopefully someone can give definitive advice - maybe I should start a new thread, rather than hijack this one?
  15. I remember getting into heated 'discussions' with people on this Forum during lockdown about how ridiculous it was to close schools and the damage it would cause. Nice to be vindicated!
  16. I will soon have to transfer my 9-year-old son's Extension to his new passport. Does he physically have to be present at CW Immigration or can I do it on his behalf? His Extension is based on being my dependant (I have a Work Extension).
  17. He wasn't an illegal immigrant or asylum seeker. I'm not sorry for anyone who tried to or encouraged people to burn down hotels and hostels and murder people.
  18. I believe it's Rayong too, but not all over Thailand. Just the provinces that are holding elections.
  19. Any recommendations for renting a car from Gatwick Airport for a 12 day visit. Nothing fancy, just a 4-door automatic, petrol 'compact' or 'small' car. Are the big companies like Avis and Hertz always the best? I will have my 10-year-old son with me, so presumably I will have to rent a child's booster seat as well (by law)? I plan on using my 5-year Thai driving licence. Does everyone splash out for Excess Protection? I guess I can reserve the car and pay online from Thailand.
  20. I don't think Boris would be interested (thankfully), but I do think Liz Truss is angling for a comeback! 🤭
  21. In the current climate, is it OK to pour water over burning rubbish on the street, supposedly as something to do with Chinese New Year?
  22. I'm not being disrespectful but you are obviously a Daily Mail reader and watch GB News! The rioters were not being lied to and had no reason for attacking the police and trying to burn down and murder the hotels/hostel which were accommodating asylum seekers. They deserved to be punished and all credit to the authorities for acting quickly and nipping it in the bud.
  23. I didn't provide my wife's Lao birth certificate as she doesn't have one. They were happy with her passport and a (bad) copy of her entry in her family's Lao housebook.
  24. None of them. Most likely to come from Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro, J B Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer. Don't discount Michelle Obama either!
