  1. I guess you could drive the car with the main screen showing the rear view ?, but that would surely distract as well as hogging the screen. Note: I think you need to turn traction control off for the 0-100, although it might promote wheel spin most do turn it off for the test.
  2. From what I gather Sinjet is a Chinese electronics company making, primarily, heads up displays. This dual dash camera set up is used on the Chinese Seal and this guy imports the kits and now operates under a Sinjet Thailand logo. Seen a lot of interest from owners of other cars but currently only Seal kit available, he himself drives a Seal. Can’t help thinking if he invests in some kits other popular brands he would have himself a little gold mine ! Did have a look on Lazada but couldn’t see it, there might be similar products but none made specifically ( the mirror mount and front camera mounting profile etc ) for the Seal.
  3. yes, and I think it is Bangkok only, although he could possibly sell the kit on, he agreed to meet me halfway if I go ahead, I live in Ayutthaya.
  4. Wow , I ordered my Premium Grey on Oct 24th and still hoping for the end of the month. Suppose it depends on location and colour, have seen some Premium in white and black available and one in grey at some far flung location but mostly the Premium is in demand.
  5. Yes, I thought it very interesting , on this video at around the 45 seconds mark he turns it off and it reacts as a normal mirror ( I think ):
  6. Dash cams : As I mentioned before i have bought the BYD dashcam and if happy would use my existing 70Mai at the rear. But, since then and during the waiting period for the car i have seen this , comes specifically for the BYD Seal : A front and rear camera with a replacement LED rear view mirror. Files saved to a micro sd card as the norm but the highlights, imo, are : Time lapse video (parking surveillance) for up to 24 hours. Stream your rear/front (or split screen) on the rear view mirror. Both cameras 1080p. Plugs into the existing cable for BYD dash so no trailing wires or use of usb/ 12v port. For me just improved rear view from to makes it worth while . Front camera goes here tucked up behind the mirror: Spoke to these people and the rear camera can be mounted externally above the license plate : or internally as in rear view photo above. 7500 baht fitted, the guy seems very happy to accommodate any customer requirements. Obviously resolution and night vision need to be checked but seems like a super neat viable option to me. Search FB for Sinjet if interested.
  7. Mine has been pre-named already back in 1970 when, at the tender age of 9, I discovered this fella and followed him avidly until his early demise ( from great to mediocre ) in 1975. ( fans might be interested to know this version was destined for the Elton John album but didn’t make the cut, reworked it appears 3 years later on GYBR ) Elton is swapping his Rolls Royce Silver Cloud for a BYD Dolphin !! …. allegedly ! Another seamless link back to Electric Vehicles in Thailand.
  8. I had random beeps with my MG initially, so much so I returned to the dealer and they did a diagnostic check but said all was good. Turned out that the majority of the beeps, actually a couple of different bell sounds, were from the cruise control which I had tested but then closed ( not a fan here in Thailand ). Once I had gone into cruise control settings and made some changes they disappeared except for speed cameras which I left.
  9. What was your opinion on the glass roof ? We have seen one poster who feels the roof still makes the car hot even with a quality film installed and has fitted the sun shade permanently. How did you end up ? My opinion ( pretty worthless as I haven’t got the car yet but here goes ) Will install an 80% film , probably Solar Gard on roof. Still have the option to fit the sun shade and, as we have seen from your video, it does let plenty of light in. Worst ( or best depending on how you look at it ) case scenario, fit the sunshade with a layer of foil reflecting foam in between. I have said in the past that it is a shame to cover that beautiful glass roof but, tbh, I don’t know how I will feel living with that huge window over my head. After the novelty wears off maybe I won’t even remember it is there anymore ? My last two cars have had sun roofs but after first week never even opened the sun shade let alone the sun roof itself. Time will tell but i am leaning towards, putting the film and enjoying the view ( upwards ) for a while then maybe a month later fitting the sun shade, job done. After all i will be concentrating on the road ahead, wife will be concentrating on her phone and the kids will be concentrating on the inside of their eyelids before we get out of the moobahn !!
  10. Topics on Thailand mainly, visas, ev’s, the tax system issue, food etc Non Thai topics: movies/series, humour, avoid the world news threads as they are just turn in to bickerfests !!, Israel or American politics for example, can get more sensible updates on these subjects elsewhere. Recently have been choosing my content depending on the author of the topic and not the topic itself, avoiding a handful of meaningless posters obsessed with flooding the forum with meaningless topics,l.
  11. Back up to full speed again this morning !! Well done 👍
  12. Just to add : Byd manufacture and use LFP batteries solely in their ev’s , their batteries are also used in other ev’s due to their safety aspect. NMC batteries ( Nickel, Manganese, Cobalt ) are another common alternative. NMC have a better energy density than LFP in that they are lighter and smaller but LFP have many more energy cycles and therefore a longer life. Both NMC and LFP react differently in hot and cold climates, it is always somewhat of a compromise but LFP deal with the heat better and therefore are more prevalent here in Thailand. BYD continues to search for the ideal battery configuration and currently uses a sodium-ion ( Na-ion ) battery in its Seagull EV but currently only in China. They are also studying the use of LMFP ( Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate ) batteries which appear to have a higher energy density while retaining the cost and efficiency of LFP.
  13. The latest fad on Seal sold here is to change the rear suspension springs, presumably to make it stiffer, at a cost of 4800 baht. Was also popular on Atto 3 to change springs and shocks, for around 30k. Anyone here feel the necessity for this or is it a “ monkey see, monkey do” situation ?
  14. Thought this was worthy of a screenshot: State of health of the battery after 100k miles (161k km) This means the range of this MG EP ( MG5- U.K.) has deteriorated from new 233 miles to 219 miles ( 375 km to 352 km ).
  15. I asked this question a couple of weeks ago but it looks like gas station prices are 5.5/7.5 baht ( or thereabouts ) but usually in a mall you will pay a premium price of 9 baht for EZ PluZ
  16. Now this got my attention : 📸 Watch this video on Facebook https://m.facebook.com/groups/844499835639464/permalink/6808456035910451/?mibextid=HSR2mg If I understood this correctly: It plugs into the existing cable used for BYD dash cam. It can remain monitoring for up to 24 hours. Can put the view from the rear view dash camera on the rear view mirror ( much clearer without passengers or head rests in the way ) Also has forward facing camera, where this is located I do not know, maybe built into the rear view mirror body. Many questions, price/resolution/availability etc, but looks ideal to me ( as someone who’s OCD about neatness and trailing cables etc ) , especially the rear view . One to watch out for !! This link, hopefully, gives more info. 📸 Look at this post on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/1Wt1uEGFFRkrL62q/?mibextid=K8Wfd2
  17. Here’s a link to an electric sunshade for the BYD Seal( 16,900 baht ), looks okay but I feel it has cut down the surface area of the glass roof somewhat . 📸 Watch this video on Facebook https://fb.watch/ouKz9_Ueqe/?mibextid=HSR2mg Still think some film can cut down the heat while retaining the beauty of the glass roof.
  18. Meanwhile, Tesla haven’t decided whether they are lowering or raising prices yet !
  19. Seems like photos can be added now. Great news for those buying a Dolphin or Atto 3 recently.
  20. Welcome back, what have we missed ? Well BYD are offering a 3 car giveaway for BYD owners to commemorate 19,999 cars sold . Plus, Dolphin buyers will get a free charger and free maintenance/service . Atto 3 buyers will get 2 years free insurance. Seems like 3 good deals to me ! ( forum limitations not allowing me to post a photo currently ).
  21. Yes, good news that the AVAS ( Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System ) will have the option to be switched off. Wondering if European and Australian Seals will follow suit, I’m thinking not . Commonly known as PWS ( Pedestrian Warning System ) elsewhere. Personally I think it is strange why full EV’s are subject to this ruling, my HEV is also silent running at times and, let’s face it, how much noise does an ICE car make when driving round a car park below 30 kph ?
  22. Aion’s turn to drop the price: 100k off the 490 Elite ! But only for the next 1000 buyers .
  23. I started a topic on this yesterday, every time I click to change topic I get a full page blurry photo from one of the ads, click on the “X “ to remove. My topic on the support forum was replied to by george then promptly closed ! How does that help me or anyone else for that matter ?.
  24. Thanks, PTT is king in our region and on our most common routes ( Ayutthaya and north from there ) but I guess there will be more appearing, didn’t they recently buy ESSO ?
