  1. I'd give this post two likes if I could. I hate those url shorteners and treat them as malware. ok so I've switched to AIS and ping times to european servers dropped from 250-350ms on Truemove to 190-240ms on AIS, very happy so far. Also I was experiencing frequent disconnects with Truemove (up to 10 times daily), will report later if I will have them with AIS. P.S. However the speed is very unstable - ranging from 17mbps (tariff advertised as 10mbps!) down to <1mbps, average is 6mbps. Possibly it has something to do with the signal quality - modem reports 19-22% but it was much better with Truemove and is much better with DTAC on my phone. Possibly there is a low coverage by AIS in my area.
  2. 10'000 THB shipping by DHL, tax = 1400 THB (14%) 20'000 THB shipping by DHL, tax = 1700 THB (8.5%) I was wrong about DHL service charge - its not 600 THB but "just" 214 THB -a "DISBURSEMENT" in the screenshot above, and the tax itself is "CUSTOMS SERVICE VAT". I found it out when checked other tax slips - the "DISBURSEMENT" is always 214 THB but customs service value changes (seems to be always 7% for electronics and computer parts). anyway Thailand Post charges 10 times less than DHL - just 20 THB for "disbursement".
  3. I used it a few times but with only one bank - Krungsri - so other banks may be different. Ask to "get cash from card", staff will take your card, put into the terminal and ask to input the PIN code. They somehow process the cash withdrawal as a "purchase in merchant", so the currency exchange rate should be good (at least it is with my home country bank - you'd get a much better exchange rate when paying for something with the card rather when just withdrawing cash from the ATM). I don't know about the limits but heard that it's 100K THB per withdrawal. Fun story: I've successfully withdrawn 100K once, and then a few days later I came to the very same bank branch and tried to withdraw 100K from the very same card again, but the transaction was refused. I knew I had enough money on the balance and had no any limits on the card (disabled everything via online banking for this very purpose), so I insisted on repeating the withdrawal, but all transactions were refused. Then we tried a smaller sum - 50K THB, and transaction succeeded. So we just did two withdrawals for 50K, note that if you would run into the same issue.
  4. And I'm extremely disappointed with this salary. These two years of pandemic have brought millions of unneeded people in our cozy well-paid IT world and thanks to them the companies are now dumping the salaries.
  5. localbitcoins.com, localcryptos.com then you are out of luck, sorry. Wait until your bank or broker allows to buy crypto from their app/website (although that will happen either when Bitcoin will cost $200k or never at all)
  6. only if bought from the official website. There are fake Trezor and Ledger hardware wallets on the market, be careful.
  7. That's true — it is not a vulnerability when a database has no login and password.
  8. I've never used a wired internet from Truemove so can't comment on that, but as a happy user of True unlimited SIM I could tell: <deleted> NEVER EVER THINK ABOUT BUYING THAT PIECE OF ...! Go with DTAC or AIS instead. Thankfully the prepaid year of my Truemove SIM is coming to its end in the nearest days and I'm changing the provider.
  9. Unfortunately it was not a marketing email but a direct communication from the seller. Update: FYI there is another email issue on Lazada: it is impossible to change the initial email address on Lazada - I've changed email address on my account page but still receive emails to the first email address (the one I've registered with).
  10. It has revealed to be a spam bot - posted a message with embedded link in another thread.
  11. I need to buy something with Paypal but my card that is linked to Paypal doesn't have enough cash on it. I have another card but I don't want to link it to Paypal for security reasons (it's my savings card that I never use online). So I'm looking for a way to replenish Paypal balance with THB by a bank transfer but haven't found any yet. Could anyone point me to a reputable online exchanger, or exchange THB->PP USD with me? I need 1k USD.
  12. they did not ask me for the work permit, only for the visa. Another funny thing: today I went to a Krung Thai bank branch to get a new debit card, the staff lady took my passport and made a copy of the main page and the last extension stamp (i.e. until which date I'm allowed to stay in Thailand). I don't remember it was required several years ago. Westernunion first, now banks, -- Is it an unannounced crackdown on overstayers?
  13. FYI: sellers on Lazada could see your registration email address. I don't know if it's only sellers that you've bought from or any seller account could see any customer profile, but note that I'm getting "free vouchers" spam in chat from the sellers that I haven't even seen before and surely not bought anything from, so the sellers might have access to ALL users on Lazada. Still you should abide the "New Normal" rule of Internet privacy: not only use a different password for every website, but use a different email for every website.
  14. Yes, 4 cubic meters is well above my requirements. Still I worry about taxes because paying 20% VAT on all the stuff will be a 1-2k USD. I think putting a handwritten label on every single item in a box is a great idea because it makes stuff do not look as a new/commercial goods. What about insurance and tracking of ground shipping, does anyone have experience?
  15. Sorry for hijacking the thread but I don't want to open a new one. I plan a relocation from Thailand and want to bring lots of equipment back home. However some of the stuff is either too special/unique or too expensive that I would not find any buyers for it at all, or will have to sell it for peanuts. So it could be reasonable to pay all the required taxes instead of throwing the stuff away. I do not need a whole sea container as there is not that much stuff - less than a hundred of kilograms total, so a usual ground shipping by Thailand Post could be a solution. But what about insurance and tracking? Usually ground shipping has very limited or no tracking at all. As far as I understand, I should separate all stuff and send several different packages based on the type of the stuff. Does it help, to avoid taxes to declare items as "personal belongings"? Something like: "used electronic equipment, personal belongings" or "used sports equipment, personal belongings"? Does it help, to avoid taxes, to use same sender and receiver name (from myself in one country to myself in another country)? Putting a label on every single item inside the box is a good idea indeed. But do I need to list every single item/model on the customs declaration?
  16. soooo do I understand correctly that there is going to be some gathering of persons who do posess some digital gizmos which are worth lots of bucks but which are not treated as money or securities thus a loss or theft of these gizmos would not be investigated, and these persons have no rights compared to locals thus their police reports would simply be ignored? ???? https://lenta-ru.translate.goog/brief/2021/07/19/prison/?_x_tr_sl=ru&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=th&_x_tr_pto=ajax,elem "According to him, having received the access keys from the prisoner, the attackers expelled the victim without fear of consequences. “Even if he went to the police, no one would deal with the issue of the theft of cryptocurrency, which is in the gray zone, especially when the victim has no connections,” the source explained to Lenta.ru." stay safe, wash your hands and keep a distance.
  17. well, I was wrong: here are the details: https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html - there are 812841 addresses holding more than 1 BTC. Many people have Bitcoins spread over several addresses so we could safely divide that amount by two (or even by ten), so its 100-500k persons. The club is not as elite as I thought, but still. ... P.S. there are approx 20 millions of dollar millionaires in the world.
  18. - I mean that you could calculate a checksum of any digital item and add it as a raw hex data to a transaction to the same (your) address on Bitcoin or every single other blockchain. Then the ownership could be checked in such way: if you are the first one with this checksum on a blockchain and you haven't sent a transaction with this checksum to anybody else. If you send a transaction to the different address it means you've transferred the ownership. P.S. I didn't read how NFT works so it could be even a more simple solution, still my approach is simple enough and could be implemented in a 13 years old cryptocurrency.
  19. I don't understand how NFT could prevent me from doing Right Click -> "Save As ..." on any picture I like. Or youtube-dl on any video or mp3 I like. We have proof of ownership for 13 years already, in the original blockchain and every single other cryptocurrency. Why we need those thousands of automatically generated images of apes with different faces and hats called "new unique NFT collection"?
  20. ... if you have 1 whole Bitcoin you are in "one of a ten thousand" elite club, maybe even "one of a thousand", but not "one of 21 million" as commonly thought.
  21. I am too lazy to describe everything in detail (and noone would read a large post anyway), so I will sum up in short: - DeFi sucks and has no value or use. No, it will not kill banks. - NFT sucks and has no use except money laundering - infinite supply cryptos such as Ethereum suck and have little to no value, and little to no use - only limited supply cryptos such as Bitcoin not suck (but still have little to no use)

  23. Have you ever tried to scroll further than 10 pages of google's search results? First page: "About 1,930,000 results (0.50 seconds)" . . . Nineth (and the last) page: "Page 9 of about 409 results (1.23 seconds)" "to rely on Google", Oh, wait...
