Is it OK to overstay by 2 days?
DrJack54 replied to organicman's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, be aware that if you apply for extension which will be denied and given the 7 day notice to exit Thailand. I'm thinking that the 7 days starts from date you attend immigration and not expiry of current permit.. -
Non-Immigrant ED Visit to study for 3 months
DrJack54 replied to damole's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You could consider tourist visa + extension. Does not exclude studying at a school or otherwise. Most folk that obtain non ED are looking for longer stay than 3 months. -
Change OA retirement extension to O
DrJack54 replied to fulhamster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Good that your plan worked out suiting your needs. Just to be clear.... You didn't have a tourist visa. The agent obtained a non O which gives a 90 day stamp and subsequent extension of 12 months. Having the funds in the bank you did have the option of doing this process yourself. For non O retirement and extension it's a simple process. Doing it yourself would have been 2000+1900 baht so reasonable deal from agent to have them do the leg work. -
New pp means nothing.. You ask about flying visa exempt via air. Good luck with that. You stated continuous stay in Thailand since 2019. Granted we had covid based extensions etc. Be straight up. Why continuous stay required. Why not spend time in another country. If I was io I would suspect you are working in Thailand and refuse entry at at airport on arrival. 3 years come on. Clearly you are under 50 ? And cannot obtain non O based on retirement

Change OA retirement extension to O
DrJack54 replied to fulhamster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
While some immigration offices don't check this, I think it's best option to wait for final stamp. -
IF lucky enough to be granted a tourist visa then you might have chance to enter Thailand. Flying back visa exempt to Thailand I hoping you try. We haven't had recent reports of refused entry and fly back to point of departure. Been in Thailand since 2019. Well done. Heading for big fall. Spend time out of Thailand. Vietnam would be one suggestion

SETV in Vientiane after long stay in Thailand.
DrJack54 replied to ketilnm's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I believe so. The post of mine that you quoted was me pointing out that the OP is not Russian. Read back in thread there was troll stating "stand your ground " etc. Turned out to be Russian. For vast majority of passports you can only stay in Thailand for limited time using visa exempt and tourist visas -
Has the TM30 been scrapped?
DrJack54 replied to colinchaffers's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm done. You do not understand how TM30 works and what immigration require. I was just about to edit my previous post with links to threads that would explain it for you. Forget that plan. There are many immigration offices that do a doc check. You may not even get to second base without TM30 screenshot from condo for 30 day extension. BTW: Condo vs Hotel irrelevant. Both need to file a TM30 -
Has the TM30 been scrapped?
DrJack54 replied to colinchaffers's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
So all this aside... If someone starts a thread... "What are required docs for visa exempt entry extension.." What will be your post?? Mine will be: TM7 +Photo. Basic photocopies of pp. 1900b ##Screenshot of TM30 from condo where you are staying. -
Has the TM30 been scrapped?
DrJack54 replied to colinchaffers's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No. It definitely is most. I pointed out CM being a rogue office on this matter. Sad because lot of expats live there. In threads similar to this one I have read few posts from folk in other provinces that where their immigration office is also not up to date. I deal with CW. They follow the law. Which office do you deal with. -

One last question. If using money in bank method was copy of bank book pages enough or did they require 12 month of bank statements -
Has the TM30 been scrapped?
DrJack54 replied to colinchaffers's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Strange post. First para implying that it's possible to obtain extension from visa exempt entry without TM30. Then second para stating that io rings hotel to provide TM30. Of course sometimes the io will skip the TM30 requirement for various services such as 30 day extensions. Sure onward flights MAY NOT be required. That chit chat topic has been done to death. -
Has the TM30 been scrapped?
DrJack54 replied to colinchaffers's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
"Many" ? CM have ignored the rule change in 2020. No doubt there are few others. There are ~ 75 immigration offices. I post according to what the majority require and what the actual rule states. -

Good. So ongoing stay continuous status. No TM30 required unless you change your place of residence. Must better the pervious ridiculous rule. Did SP ask for copy of your most recent TM47. Im also here on extensions retirement from a non O and it was required for my most recent extension at CW. -

Change OA retirement extension to O
DrJack54 replied to fulhamster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes. Provided you are married to Thai national.. Extensions from a non O-A based on retirement require insurance. Based on marriage do not require insurance If you are using money in bank method here is short thread with advice re financials. https://aseannow.com/topic/1282233-changing-visa-extension-based-on-retirement-to-marriage/ More comprehensive advice in this thread https://aseannow.com/topic/1294912-changing-extension-from-retired-to-married/ -
Change OA retirement extension to O
DrJack54 replied to fulhamster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, completely covered by post above. Be aware (if you deal with Jomtien) that office (according to recent thread) .....requires the 800k seasoned for two months to apply for the non O. Ridiculous. The rule is funds in the bank on day of application. Assume that you are not married. If you are you could change extension to based on marriage and no insurance requirements -
Has the TM30 been scrapped?
DrJack54 replied to colinchaffers's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes you need to have TM30 to obtain 30 day extension. Yes you can check into a hotel and have them provide you with screenshot of filing.. Immigration might fine or send you away without a TM30 Best to provide one. Note: you can make appointment at IT mall. Appointment link. https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=20131 If you make appointment take hard copy of confirmation email. -
Has the TM30 been scrapped?
DrJack54 replied to colinchaffers's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not interested in personal experience. You returned with new visa A TM30 is required. I'm just referring to the law in section 2.2 -
I was not asking about law. You read some rubbish from TAT that included the word LAW. Very naive. There is no definition of tourist relating to number of visa exempt entries via air and no law relating to number of days spent in Thailand. You can post rubbish from TAT and even cut and paste from various Thai consulates. That sometimes has incorrect and outdated information Clearly you are poorly informed. TAT make recommendations to Thai gov.
