  1. Just got back from a tool store in Rayong I've been eyeballing but never entered until today. I was in tool heaven. USA made 1/2" socket and ratchet set was pricey at over 4K, didn't see the brand. Picked up a Stanley brand 23 piece 1/2" set for 2700 tbh. Pretty funny that Taiwan tools are several steps up from China tools.
  2. It would seem so but looking around found 3/8 " ratchets hard to find. 1/2 and 1/4 seem the norm.
  3. So, looking around for tools I see 3/8" sockets and ratchets aren't the norm. So, any info on stores specializing in tools in the Pattaya Area. I wouldn't mind paying more for a tool not made in China. Just looking for a socket set, wrenches and pliers. I'm more of a brick store fan than an online fan.
  4. If I was living solo in an urban setting such as Pattaya, owning a car might be more hassle than it's worth. Especially if you travel back to your home country periodically and don't have secure long term parking. Having a bad ass big bike and a scooter would suffice almost anywhere. Plenty of foreigners where I live that don't own cars, just MB's. They get by just fine.
  5. I used the same till I started brewing coffee.
  6. You're the one who seems to have a behavioral problem. Winding you up is just too easy.
  7. I got news for you, the world doesn't revolve around you impeding traffic on a bike. And by the way it was another poster who bragged about scaring bikers ????
  8. Perhaps the cyclist should pick a better route. The old Thai ladies riding is bad enough, but then you get the ignorant foreigners who think it's OK to go riding on major roads and narrow streets. Now if I could just get rid of the dogs sleeping in the middle of the road and MC's with side carts I'd be a happier person.
  9. For me it's only No. 4 - Do I have enough money? yes Even if I wasn't willing to buy a new one I'd lay down 200K for a used one regardless my needs or family.
  10. I've been driving a truck since age of 14 on the road. You don't need a reason to own a car. If I had the room I'd like to buy an old bomber just for kicks.
  11. Thank you for words of wisdom. You've got a good chance of being right but my experience of buying cheap doesn't always turn out well. We'll see.
  12. No problem paying Lazada with foreign credit card, all domestic flights the same. Everything else is cash, cash is still king.
  13. I'll have another look see at the stores.
  14. I sort of settled on the Wel-d 300d about 6,100 bht
  15. Thanks for the replies, saw the photos of projects made with cheap machines stick weld and ones made with mig welders. Think I'll start with stick welding, as mig welding seems more for advanced welders. The Thais seem to weld by jabbing the stick instead of running a bead, which is how I was taught in high school. I'm not a fan of online for tools, I'll buy from a box store. Sort of settled on a 6,000 bht model welder, going to get the mitre saw as well.
  16. I never would have known the danger of galvanized if a friend hadn't warned me when I told him of my plan to start welding. He said to have a good fan to blow away the smoke.
  17. Who's going to be the first to say, but she looks 35 .
  18. Your comment shows how clueless you are.
  19. Nothing silly about the truth. It's boring to be stuck amongst poor people.
  20. Looking to buy a welder for small around the house projects. Which brand name and model would be good. Me, I usually just buy middle of the road priced tools because I'm not a pro. I haven't welded since my teen age years when a welder was a monster. I've seen the guys welding, I'm sure I can pick up the skill again. Anyway, any recommendations on brand name.
