Agree...sadly, some of the less-professional dive outfits don't pay much attention to Admin!

Quiet bar in Pattaya
That's the problem @jacko45k I'm probably as old as you and yes those two sois were very much the places to be a decade or 2 ago 😋 The gogos, Far East Rock and Nevada were great for afternoon fun and all the little bars and massage shops as well. That's what I meant when I said "Those 2 streets are changing all the time" Sadly....Tempus Fugit! 🙄😩

Quiet bar in Pattaya
If your reply was referring to Pattaya Beer Garden, both were still true in April 2023 - beer mats with "Lookin'" on one side and "Chillin'" on the other. And there were a few "likely ladies" in there too 🤣 To the OP, take a stroll along Soi Post Office and / or Soi Yamoto. From Bukahou go down Soi Diana to Second road, turn left, cross Second Rd at McD's and they are 2 adjacent streets one with a visible GoGo on your RHS. There are lots of little bars down those streets, and I was struck this year by just how quiet they were. Those 2 streets are changing all the time so take a stroll and a look. Also, Soi Lengke has a few small bars. It's off Bukahou opposite Diana at the manic road junction with a 7/11 on one corner and WAS a Family Mart on the other now changed I believe..

Business Class Air
That's sort of the response I'm expecting, to be honest.

Business Class Air
Thanks for that - I was unaware of that Moet bar! 👍 I feel a plan forming here...... Visit the Moet bar, enjoy what it has to offer, get on the 777 for my flight home and...….sleep! I'm putting your link in my calendar for my flight home to remind me - cheers! 🍸

Indeed, but the dive operators are supposed to be professional enough to take heed of such warnings and cancel trips if necessary. However.....TIT.

Business Class Air
In 2020, when Emirates stopped flying, I flew TG from BKK to LHR. I found the TG lounge at "Swampy" very unimpressive compared with the Emirates one which, IMO, is actually superior to the one in Dubai. Seeing as how Dubai is Emirates' home base, I found that rather odd.

Business Class Air
They've put me in the window seat too but I'm quite annoyed at the switch, because part of the reason I choose Emirates Business Class is that they use the A380 with all it includes! I haven't studied the T&C but I presume that contractually swapping aircraft for "operational reasons" is not something to which I can object. It's the last sector of my journey (DXB - LGW) so when I get home, IF I've found it objectionable, then I will make a formal objection and see what, if anything, it gets me.

Ping Pong Ball Show
Actually....... I did have one land in my beer also in Patpong in (I think) 1985!!! Being with "the guys" from Saudi, I naturally drank the beer, which, being Kloster, tasted better than usual! 🍺🍺

Business Class Air
Your posting got me worried so I checked with Emirates regarding my February / April flights LGW-DXB-BKK and return. I'm on a Business Saver ticket and that does include all lounges and chauffer drive, the latter I'd already booked anyway. Apparently there's a cheaper option than Saver which doesn't include those options - that must be the one to which you refer. What the buggers have done is change my flight from DXB to LGW from an A380 to a 777-300ER which, looking at various videos is far less comfortable! 🤬 Lots of YouTube vids where people say as much. Emirates tell me I can lodge a formal complaint but I doubt I'll get anywhere, however if it's really bad, I'll contact them on my return...after all, I might find it's OK...

Clear notifications button
Thanks - that, as I said, is the "expected behaviour" until the "Clear Notifications" option is restored. I and others would like to see it restored. Hopefully @george or one of his team are reading this and will give us an update - probably after the "silly season" has passed 🎅🏻

Clear notifications button
Doesn't work for me in Chrome or Edge on Windows 10 I've tried opening in New Tab and New Window and tried reloading pages. All that happens is that the notifications that were bold indicating that they've not been read yet revert to normal type when you read them. But they're all still there. However @frantick that is the behaviour I'd expect - what you're seeing is technically wrong! Would you mind sharing your config information please: What OS? What Browser?

Drunk British suspect refuses arrest and tries to injure Thai police
Allow me to correct that for you..... "Lucky Pity that this idiot was not in Australia where the police get out their guns and shoot them dead if they resist arrest." That's better

Will your foreign wife be able to join you in UK?
I realise it won't help everyone but the alternative is if the Brit has enough savings to show in support of the foreigner's visa application. Then income doesn't matter. I don't have the figures to hand but I presume the amount has increased along with the required income amount.

Which Isan town/city is best for a bit of hanky panky?
Years ago I visited Sisaket to stay with a friend who lived there. He spoke passable Thai. We went to several bars in what he called the "local twinkle town" and, because he was known and spoke Thai we were welcomed, cautiously. I got the impression that had I gone alone I wouldn't have been received so well which my friend later confirmed. Bear in mind, it's nothing like BKK, Patts or Phuket! Also be very careful as many of the ladies present were, I'm sure, very young - uncomfortably so, for me! Oddly enough, when visiting Pichai some years later, another friend, who lived there, pointed out the "local twinkle town" to me although we didn't indulge. As @Bday Prang said above "it's everywhere, just look for the bright lights or the fairy lights,"

Statins stimulate atherosclerosis and heart failure: pharmacological mechanisms
Bearing in mind the fact that I'm NOT a medical professional, I do think this adds a little weight to my previous reply to you @Sheryl in that (IMO) "I do think it behoves anyone with any medical condition to keep up to date on developments from reliable sources and then ask the pertinent questions." Basically, what you don't know CAN hurt you but it's also very easy for we amateurs to get bogged down in unnecessary hypotheses from unestablished sources.

Statins stimulate atherosclerosis and heart failure: pharmacological mechanisms
Thank you - all very clear. 👍 Tbh, there's no way I'd alter my prescribed meds without consulting my GP / specialist. But I do think it behoves anyone with any medical condition to keep up to date on developments from reliable sources and then ask the pertinent questions. Had I been a little more assiduous 5 years ago, I may not have had the attack at all 🙄

Pattaya city plans for one-way roads trial in 2024
No you're wrong. They only ever go one way.....AT A TIME! 😲🤣

Statins stimulate atherosclerosis and heart failure: pharmacological mechanisms
Therein lies the rub! I had high cholesterol and high BP which, stupidly, I basically ignored. Then I had a heart attack! Now I'm on a Statin and several BP-reducing meds. I get a blood test every year confirming that the meds are working, and not causing any bad effects to my liver, kidneys etc. So my (possible) dilemma is do I stop taking the meds and risk another attack, or carry on and risk....something else???? As medical science advances, today's cures are sometimes discovered to cause more harm than good - as others have said this article says ".............we present a perspective that statins may be causative in coronary artery calcification........" @Sheryl you confirmed it needs further study but what did you mean by your comment "Statin use by people who do not have CAD is more controversial especially for borderline lipid levels."? And is the source of the OP considered to be reliable, would you say?

Emaciated, Twenty-Year-Old Tiger Among 15 Big Cats Saved from Tiger Farm in Thailand after Historic Rescue Mission
It's not! It's just that this has gone unexposed for far too long. Parts of the world are moving away from battery chickens - I don't know about Thailand. Here in UK one can buy free-range eggs, for example. The only SMALL saving grace is that the chickens are at least there for food - does NOT mean it's OK though. The tigers were there for so-called "entertainment". 🤬

How did you handle the situation? Did you have to make a bolt for it or were you too keyed up to screw up the courage?? You're just unhinged!

Worst Joke Ever 2026
Ah my hero - that well-known spoiling misteake - Spoke Milligna from "Q". The only one to keep a straight face in that sketch was Katie Boyle but I often wonder what would have happened if she'd turned round and seen the capers. 🤣

Has Your Arrival in Thailand Caused You to Change Your Religion?
Nor is the imaginary friend of those who believe in the "creator". Exactly. Talking to one's imaginary friend might be construed as a sign of mental instability, but call it religion and call the "friend" God, and it becomes OK ! IMO, religion (ALL of them) are the world's biggest conspiracy theories
